No. Should've been dropped sooner as to warn him about his extreme case of inconsistency, that is not acceptable at this level and for what we want to do in CL.

You can't drop him now because no one else can play there.

Suarez atm is the guy that would get chosen last in a pick-up football game.
On why Valverde is suited for Barca :

-not playing naive in CL away and getting thrashed everytime (roma was dembele fault for missing empty net). ~ Enjoy your life.

I personally trust Suarez more than malcom and coutinho even though suarez is bad in CL away games. yes, he's in another rough patch of form but he still has his moments of magic in him. i'd rather we drop him in more la liga games than CL games

I would still have him on the bench since we basically have no option

Already telling you, it's gonna look really bad. To give you a preview: Cavani in the same timespan has 17 CL goals while Suarez has 4.

    Let that fucking sink in.
    Since 2016/17 - Games and Goals in ( )

    Luis Suarez - 24(4)

    Robert Lewandowski - 27(21)

    Karim Benzema - 29(14)

    Harry Kane - 16(13)

    Sergio Aguero - 18(12)

    Edinson Cavani - 22(17)

    Roberto Firmino - 20(12)

    BONUS:

    Antoine Griezmann - 25(12)

For all the criticism Messi, Rakitic, Busquets and various players have gotten the last three campaigns including this one, the biggest reason for our downfall in this competition might be none other than Suarez himself.

Having a striker that is one of the highest paid players in the World give you that return is almost criminal.

But, but the other strikers also didn't score much in the CL. Suarez is not a problem.

    Myth busted.

You realise Barcelona is terrible in CL in the last 3 years right?

Messi has 0 goals in the last 10 games in the quarter finals of the Champions League. That's also terrible.

Our goals conceded away from home are also terrible.

I think we can make a list with many terrible things which have happened in CL with us in the last 3 years.

It leads to not an individual problem, but a team problem, starting with the board and the manager.

At every other big club things change after repeatitive big defeats. We change nothing.

Suarez is just a scapegoat at this point. We were terrible when he was out injured mind you.

    Suarez is a scapegoat? Lol.

Look at that record. You mention Messi hasn't scored in several QF games, well, Suarez cannot even buy a goal in the group stages even if we play a team full of scrubs.

When Messi doesn't score in one game you go on a 10 page rant where you undermine his legacy and talk about how he should be sold, but turn a blind eye to that record.

Perhaps you ought to take your fanboy glasses off here.

@serghei does have a tendency to have acutely weird opinions on Messi at times. I remember him not crediting Messi much for our CL winning campaigns, but then also said CR7 has been the difference maker in Real winning the CLs...when Messi was top scorer in CL last 3 times we won it like CR7 was lol. And I don't even need to get into the playmaking qualities.

clearly, both of them need world class teammates around them to actual win these titles and have the scoring records they have.

Lol, what fanboy? I've insulted Suarez dozens of time. But Suarez is not the only problem of this team, or even among the biggest ones. Individual performances are going down and have been going down for years due to systemic problems which go way past Suarez.

Suarez is just one of the many symptoms of a dysfunctional team. So are Messi's performances in big CL games.

No, I credit Messi for our CL winning campaigns. Ronaldo has been better in CL though and way more consistent in the big games.

Btw, do you know our last results away in CL? I'm talking about knockout ties, since Barcelona always got out of the group stages easily by winning the group.

Let's go year by year since we won the CL in 2015 a season Suarez was great in.

    2016.

    Arsenal - Barcelona 0-2, 3-1
Suarez played a very important role in the first goal on Emirates, played great in the return leg which he scored a golazo in.

    Barcelona - Atletico 2-1, 0-2.
Double at home. Probably the best player from Barcelona. Everybody was shit in the return leg in which we barely had a sniff following an Atletico/Simeone masterclass compared with the one we saw yesterday.

    2017.

    PSG - Barcelona 4-0, Barcelona - PSG 6-1.
Crap away game from everyone involved, not a single standout, in the return Suarez scored the key first goal which started the remontada, and obtained the 5-1 penalty.

    Juventus - Barcelona 3-0, 0-0.
Crap tie from Barcelona in which, big surprirse, everyone was bellow average.

    2018.

    Chelsea - Barcelona 1-1. Barcelona - Chelsea 3-0.
This is probably the only tie were Messi clearly played better than Suarez so far, or had a considerably bigger impact in the last 3 years. In return, Suarez outperformed Messi in the 2016 tie vs Atletico.

    Barcelona - Roma 4-1, Roma - Barcelona 3-0.
Average games from everyone involved. Suarez scored the 4-1 goal in the first leg.

Conclusion. Yea, Suarez is the first reason why we suck in CL. Literally the games he is blamed the most for not scoring are the ones the whole team sucked ass in.

Suarez is nothing but a very easy target because of his petulant attitude on the field. From, diving, bitching etc. And of course fans waste no reason to pin down to him things which are clearly wrong on a deeper level. Sorry for spoiling the party.

When has Messi carried a bunch of scrubs in CL? Man, Messi has won the CL only with stellar teams filled with superstars and all time great players.

    2009.

Best team in the fucking world. Best midfield ever probably and 2 superstar forwards next to him. And the best RB ever on his side, in his prime. Coached by a genius.

    2011.

2009 only said players where at their peak instead of prime. Changed Eto'o with another super forward, none other than Spain's all time leading goalscorer in international comps. Coached by one of the best managers the game has ever seen also at his best.

    2015.

Declined team, but added a new dimension with the superstar signings of Neymar and Suarez, getting what many of the fans and media called MSN, aka the best trio ever. They ripped teams apart together.

So... please tell me when did Messi carry anything in CL? It's a whole different thing to be the best player in a team, which he was, and to carry that team. We only won the CL when everyone played lights out. We lost and lost badly when that didn't happen, regardless of Messi. Which is what we're trying to correct.

Messi and Ronaldo never carried anything. They were part of the best teams in the world and this is why they won so much. The difference between them in CL is that Ronaldo was more consistent in the big games, and this because of his superior motivation and tenacity, two qualities that often make the difference in this specific competitions in which the best teams meet. Which makes him better in CL, while being worse overall than Messi. Hardly controversial stuff. Most sensible, unbiased fans, would agree to that.

I would say the best trio ever was Xavi, Iniesta, Messi (or Busi).
