4 - Ronald Araújo

"Fastest" as in the maximum speed they registered in an isolated episode during a match over the season. Does not mean anything other than that these guys can accelerate to this speed if they have space.

Still hard to believe when Dembele plays in La Liga.

It says "Jornada 38", which means all of the numbers have been counted in 38th round of the season.

Yes missed it. I keep forgetting Araujo played last season. So just glossing over the image assumed it was this season.
But it's not like Dembele didn't play last season.

Anyway, maybe what JD says holds true.

It was reported as fastest across the season but not sure if that or just last game.

Round 38 could mean either really.

Edit: It is last day of season.

It is pretty hard to get data about top speed, but here is an article about it. Remember: It is from June 2020, therefore Araujo is not in that list. However, it gives you an idea where he ranks in that list and how fast he really is compared to other players.

Looks like Araujo is the fastest in the squad, slightly faster than Braithwaite. Dembele might not be that fast when it comes to top speed. He is just fucking quick and his acceleration is explosive, that's why he looks so fast.

More like 3 and 2 seconds, respectively.

Let's say these numbers are correct (they aren't). Reaching 34 km/h in 3 resp. 2 seconds. And make it as simple as possible.

Acceleration (constant)
Araujo: 3.15 m/s^2
Dembele: 4.72 m/s^2

Let's say they sprint for 3 seconds (the time it takes for Araujo to get to full speed), how far ahead will Dembele be if they start from standing still?
Dembele will have reached top speed after 2 seconds and sprints at full speed for a full second.

Distance
Araujo: 14 m
Dembele: 19 m

By the time Araujo longlegs has gotten his engine going, Dembele will already be 5 meters ahead of him.

Araujo looks quick over the first few yards for a CB.

One of his biggest plus points looks like his pace and strength to get across attackers and block them off.

Also gets across quickly to cover for other defenders quite a bit. Did it 3/4 times against Bilbao.
