With Lille being forced to sell to avoid punishment from the DCNG, Monaco has returned to the track of Boubakary Soumaré, former PSG youth player.

Good price for a great player.

Great player. Been following him since the start of the season and doing better and better. Remind me of the Monaco version of Fabinho.

Would be interesting to play him as a DM here.

Have been wanting to see this midfield for quite some time:

Soumaré
De Jong - advanced mid (Ziyech for me, Aouar, Van De Beek, Ruiz and so on)

Speaks volume about his talent. Could see him do very well at Madrid actually, a strong midfielder with a strong body who is good on the ball in the mold of Casemiro, Valverde, Kroos, can make an argument for Modric aswell.

Hope we are following him.

I do really like PSG graduates. We do need someone like him, especially if we want to play 4231 or if we want to try Coutinho as a CM.

He looks good. Could fit into Vidal role though he probably wouldn't score as many goals. That's why I was something warming up to the idea of signing Bruno Fernandes when those rumours appeared.

BF is an excellent player, but we have got Coutinho.
Not a lot, maybe 3-5 games. I do not think he is good enough.

I would compare him more to the Monaco Fabinho or Yaya when he was here.

Regarding Osimhen, I don’t see him as a Barca player. Doubt he can perform against deep blocks due to technique + need space to run into.

Sure but when looking at players I try to imagine where they would fit into our current team/system (in other words who of our current players they could replace) and not compare them with players who were here 10 years ago or those who have never played for us. Anyway I doubt we're even interested in him.

From what I've seen (2-3 games) from Osimhen he probably fits in the EPL better but there aren't many young strikers available so we should still keep an eye on him. I just hope we'll bring someone who can actually score and not another player who is good in other aspects of the game but can't do striker's main job. And from what I've seen Osimhen can score from different positions so I would still consider him for the right price.

Fair take but my point is that I could see him as our DM as I for a long time has been wanting a psychical strong DM who at the same time is good on the ball like Fabinho, Casemiro, Kante. I feel like we need an athlete ball-winner if we want to go everywhere.

Completely agree with your point regarding the striker. We need a true 9. I actually wanted Haaland but he got away. I really like Lautaro but I feel like he is better with a true 9 like Griezmann. Had Raul Jimenez been two-three years younger, he would have been my bet.

I would also like to get that type of a DM but where do you see FDJ's longterm future? I still think it would be better to use him as a DM than a CM though we've just bought that Brazilian kid who is apparently seen as Busi's replacement so I don't know. I would like to get someone like Camavinga but I don't see us spending 60M+ on a DM. Instead I think we should get a stronger box-to-box midfielder at FDJ's side in tougher away league games and CL. We can still get away playing 80-90% of home games with a "softer" midfield like FDJ-Arthur-new creative CM especially if we replace Suarez with a younger forward so midfield+defense wouldn't need to defend for two forwards walking around but just Messi (who will move even less in next years).

So getting someone who could do a "dirty work" but also provide goals+asssists is crucial imo. Vidal is our best midfielder for this role now and while he's still doing a good job in most games he's not getting any younger. This is why I think finding a young Vidal is a must longterm. I have no idea which young player would bring the same level of passion and energy in every game though and it will be also hard to do get his replacement this summer because we also need a CB, striker and more creative midfielder so I wouldn't mind keeping Vidal for another season (well probably sell him because we'll need non-EU spots for Lautaro and Neymar though :bartomeu: )

What I think we should do next season though is bench Busi (ideally we would send him to MLS but this won't happen and if Setien stays he loves him too much so he'll still start most games sadly) for FDJ. Rotate Arthur/Riqui at one CM position and then buy a creative mifielder who is not a total liability in defense.

As for the striker I think Bartomeu will go for a big name like Neymar (God forbid) or Lautaro in a year before the elections but I'm actually more in favour of getting a bit less proven cheaper forward (so I'm looking at guys like Osimhen and some kids from Eredivisie) and use the remaining 50-60M (difference in prices of Lautaro and that other player) on a good CB (this should be our priority imo) and a midfielder. We can't pay 110M for Lautaro and then probably another 150M on a CB and a midfielder. Unless we somehow get "lucky" again and find a new Umtiti for 30M.

Like it or not I think Suarez will see his contract out and still be a starter next year so we'll have a hard time fielding Messi, Suarez, Lautaro and Griezmann in the same lineup (unless we'll decide Griezmann is a flop after one season and loan him ). The only way I see sense in buying Lautaro is if Suarez will surely leave either in summer or next January for the start of 2021 MLS season (though losing players in winter can have negative effects) when we'd see if/how Lautaro would adapt. If not then I'd prefer to wait for another year and get all out on Haaland in 2021. With Raiola as his agent I could see him going to United for 2-3 seasons before coming to Barça/RM though so we really shouldn't count too much that we'd really get him especially because elections could delay our transfer activities next year. Haaland could also be used as a great election promise by some candidate though I wouldn't really like our socios to elect the next president just based on the player(s) he'd promise to bring but rather an overall good sporting and financial project.

Anyway, I'm totally OT now so it's probably better to finish here. :)
