Champions League

absolutely loving this EL/CL season this year from a German perspective. Showing that last year was just a fluke season and we can still compete with the other leagues.

CL? Sure, as for EL, Leipzig beating RBK doenst mean anything, as any half-decent team can beat them these days.

Frankfurt has beaten both Lazio and Marseille. Leverkusen also 2 wins in and only Leipzig has one narrow loss when half the team was injured and suspended, it's going good. So far in all comps we sit at 9 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses. It's nice that we have our better teams in the competitions again, aswell as Frankfurt who at least care about EL unlike teams such as Köln, Mainz, Freiburg or Hertha in the past few years.

We wouldnt now that Spurs supposedly was our strongest competitor, but is missing half their squad and struggled against Inter. Inter might pose some threat and tats about it.

About Spurs missing half their team: Aurier would not have played and alderweireld is better than Vertonghen.
Dembele isent the kind of player that would hurt us.
The ones they really missed are Eriksen (duh) and Alli but the latter wouldve replaced Son or Lucas Moura and we struggle more against players with pace.

Yesterday was just a very good game for Barcelona.

I like Hertha in the Bundesliga. Glad to seem them doing well.

Fully agree that the Champions League Semifinals is the litmus test to gauge performances in the Champions League. These are the top Champions League Semifinalists over the past 10 years:

Barcelona 6

Madrid 8

Bayern 7

Chelsea 3

Atletico 3

Utd 2

Juventus 2

Inter 1

Liverpool 1

City 1

As you can see, Barcelona has greatly under performed in Europe, given the fact that we've won La Liga 7 of the past 10 (to Madrid's 2). Messi really seems motivated and hungry this season (in Europe, especially, if his Wembley performance is anything to go by).

The Italian teams have greatly underachieved too, obviously. il bauscia/biscione has been my favourite Italian team since childhood. I for one wouldn't mind seeing them in the Final, even if we are currently in the same group.

PSG need to make it to the Semifinals next season at the very latest.

UEFA has tried to engineer an El Clasico Final all this time.

At the rate Madrid's going, we may not see it this season.

Genuinely interested to see how City does this season in Europe. We all know Liverpool always does well in Europe but City is ostensibly the best team in England by far. Europe will be the real test, a proving ground for their ambitions.

Wouldn't mind seeing Barca vs Juventus in the Final again. Talk about a solid classic European matchup. Wonder if Cristiano will feature?

Who's that in your avatar btw?

Will we see it end at 8 for Madrid?

Most consecutive semi-final appearances: 8, Real Madrid (2010–11 to 2017–18)
