Having 13 players at the WC, 11 of them until the very end didnt really help. But its indeed the lack of a 'difference-maker' like Robben or an in-form Ribery. Their tactic is depending on someone who can take on multiple opponents and thus create a momentum in the game, esp. as Bayern face exactly the same as Barca: opponents with 10 players sitting deep in their half (see even Roma doing it). They also still didnt figure how and where to use Kroos. Now van Gaal put him onto the right flank, moving Müller back into the center. The latter being the right thing as Müller needs the space to run in. But Kroos is right-footed and thus cant use one of his best assets there - long shooting.
I am btw supporting my home town cologne. But since they are playing awfully, i am usually hopeing for someone else to win the league titles. I like offensive, daring football, so i like Bremen for a while now. I even was cheering for Wolfsburg in their winning season as they played the best football. So im generally with the one playing the best, most attractive football - which is why i secondarily support Bayern now ... which isnt hard after van Gaal brought the Barca philosophy there
Not only Westermann. They also lost Bordon who was the key defender (seemingly unnecessarily as he was for free) and Rafinha (who was a diva, but still w/out getting a replacement for the right side - Metzelder had to play as RB too once ...)
Then they arent able to do a proper buildup. Was easier last year with a true target striker in Kuranyi, doing long balls. But Magath tries to change the offensive tactics, which will ofc take some time. Esp. after he couldnt get his favorite player Misimovic b/c Wolfsburg didnt want to sell within the league (they opted to deny 3-4 extra millions Schalke offered over Galatasaray even!).
Well, the power level is just very tight in the bundesliga as a lot of teams are fairly equal financially (that doesnt include Bayern though). And when teams have WC players or extra match in the CL/EL it can make the difference. I still expect the league to shape up a bit within the next 1-2 months though. But still there are always like 11-12 teams (out of only 18) fighting for spots in the european competitions.

Common Mainz!
1-0 Yes!
Schulz with a nice goal for 3-1 for Hannover vs. Bremen.
Watching Simulcast Hoffenheim vs. Bayern. Strangely, hosts look happy with a point
That's odd -- I'm just following the text (at work) but given that Bayern just lost Ribery, you'd think Hoffenheim would try pressing a little more.
Almost 4th for Hannover! Werder are shambles atm.
Bayern pressing while Hoffenheim looking at counters atm.
Mainz 2-0 Holtby's second goal!
and 4th for Hannover. Disaster for Schaff.
Damn!
Van Buyten with a stoppage time goal. 2-1 for Bayern. Looks like an offside
Ye, i think Olic was offside when Altintop crossed.
I thought Van Buyten was as well but I only saw it once and could be wrong.
Mainz rides on! They just won against Bayern in Munich!
Raul Mannshaft
good to see Schalke finally getting better slightly.. Huntelaar is finding his feet better than Raul with his second goal in a row.
looks like Borussia Dortmund league to lose.. they are great so far , scoring plenty of goals and looking really solid.
Mainz is the surprise of the season as well though for me they look like another Hoffenheim case
Say NO to "Gif" signature
Huntelaar already scored three so happy for him. Although he joined late and though Schalke suck he still is Klass.
