Lol  comparing last season and this season with is totally different and u even bring Neymar in lol. Drawing conclusions from one Girona match is equally pointless.

Your point is "being prone to counters", then yes we were vulnerable as hell if you were to keep drawing conclusions to the Girona match. We did concede as well against Espanyol countless times. We even failed to create anything against Getafe. And then u go on and say "Chelsea has fast and good players" and we struggle against smaller teams because we camt even go forward properly and invite them to keep exploiting our sloppiness and timidness. We have drawn 4 of our last 7 games, it's equally bad but then u will always find some excuse to say yeah, we cant win every match.

Yes we will create more and transition 10x better, with Paulinho we dont do any better since he contributes almost nothing, won almost zero duels and did not manage to win the ball back, except for commiting a few fouls. We will still play 4231/442 but with Dembele and it's not even a 433.

We never solidly tried to play good attack for once and u underestimating the likes of Coutinho and Dembele against dogshit teams like Las Palmas is delusional. "I dont think they will be able to do anything... they might counter."

Fking hell. Give me a damn break. They have the worst defence in La Liga and u think our attack wont do shit. Playing too safely is never good as well because we never exploit their vulnerabilties and the constant paranoia will only backfire and change the mentaltity of the game. That's why Las Palmas was able to exploit our vulnerbilities instead and look strong as the game progresses.

When Coutinho and Dembele subbed on it was too late. They were trying to defend their lead, instead the 1-0 open game would have been more easily exploited but we didnt. And we have only ourselves to blame for that.

Anyway, Coutinho plays on RM now which is a good sign that Dembele will come on the second half. It will be much better than the usual lineup.

I used Neymar to ilustrate that you won't, no mattwr how good Barca players are, create much against parked buses.

Las Palmas game is on Valverde, he fucked up, but you can't compare Las Palmas to Atletico. Every game is different and that's one of the reasons we haven't achieved as much as we could in the CL.

That you are more vulnerable to counters when you play with more attackers is itself logical.

Not a fan of Paulinho myself, so you miss the point.

I hope Coutinho plays as a AM. Speeding the transition up.
Anyways, hope you enjoy the game. ;)

Be much better served if Messi would stay to the RW more and let Coutinho play behind Suarez.

Think most likely see them two chop and change throughout the game depending on where Messi goes but rather use Coutinho more than to do that.

Judging from Atleti's lineup, they will try to press us and that's potentialy where Valverde made a mistake of not playing Dembele, because we could use his pace.

But it is also important for us to not concede against them, and Dembele is a less defensive player than Iniesta in terms of controlling the pressure. I hope he comes on during the match, though, and not just symbolically in the end.

Great to see Coutinho starting, sad to see him on the right side, though.

With that, we would destroy two things: Nobody is covering for Roberto and there would be no connection between Messi and Alba, which has been vital so far.

Messi will always come in from right and even when played there has always linked up with others on the left.

If anything Messi in middle to Alba to cut it back is just far too predictable a lot of the time.

Only defensively would it be a bit of an issue as Messi will rarely track back but at times have to try it.

Neymar is creating only for Suarez upfront. Messi dropped deep. No midfielders were able to go forward effectively. Gomes had missed a clear chance.

Dembele still plays a RM and Coutinho a LM, Coutinho is able to drop deep and create for Dembele and Suarez. So they are still midfielders and not attackers, just that Dembele plays a little wider, and has tremendous pace and able to exploit space effectively.

I don't get the whole more attackers when it's a 4231 formation.
Just because they are able to provide more than the usual Paulinho or Vidal, doesnt mean they have to throw away their midfield duties. They still function like in positions Iniesta does and does it all very well.

If coutinho is starting on the right it's a waste

Maybe this could work play iniesta in the middle with Sergio, the two grandpa's of gabi & iniesta can go up against each other and leave the flanks for players with more legs

---rakitic---busquets--iniesta---coutinho

But I doubt valverde as that much sense, though this makes perfect sense.

That centre midfield would be far too slow, immobile and weak. Would cut cut to ribbons by them breaking down middle of the park.

True. I still feel Dembele will be more fit in this system. Just hope Iniesta doesnt play too long.

Guys, maybe i'm just day dreamin here but what if this is a 4-3-3 with Coutinho-Suarez-Messi attack? Remember, Messi did play RW the last time Atletico came to Camp Nou...and he's much more dangerous there too, stretching their defense instead of trying to bully through the middle through much bigger and stronger Godin and Gimenez.

Right or left Coutinho is still a far better choice than fraudinho. Valverde is not blind after all.

More and more sources saying that Coutinho will play on the right and not as a CAM.

Edit: Comfirmed by Valverde's assistant.

Roberto will pretty much be useless in that setup. But I think Coutinho will still play RW.

Source?
