Valverde clearly didn't expect Willian to start. We couldn't cover him well enough.

Paulinho was really bad, made so many bad decisions, and for fuck's sake, that header... he should've just left it for Suarez, would've been a goal.

Other than that, we really need to work on attacking end. I wouldn't say it was as disastrous as some make it, bad but still a success all things considered.

Pretty good result for Barca...Chelsea defended really well but they hardly created any chances...all the Willian shots were long range shots. A fit Dembele instead of Paulinho would have made a ton of difference in this match

They had 2 Willian chances who hit the post+Willian goal.

We had a Paulinho header(that isn't a clear one since he didn't even hit the target) and Messi goal.

3>1.5/2.

That's pretty convencient. Could also say they had 2 shots on targets and we had 2 shots on target.

Stats can tell the story, but in this case it's too close to one another to truly say one team deserved it over the other.

EDIT: Btw when i said 'no they didn't' i was referring to you saying they deserved it more. But yes, technically you are right about them having had more chances.

so...if you had 2 clear cut chance and opponent had some 5 long range shots, would you consider your opponent to be the better team? Not just chances, quality of the chance created matters a lot. Look into xG graph of this match, it should be pretty even

In February our performances have been subpar, except Valencia. And we´re scoring fewer goals.

Key players need rest. We have home games and 2 away games with bottom teams. Let´s use that.

Coutinho, Semedo, Digne, Dembelé and others have to play more.

Watching us play against a parked bus is an excruciating experience. Truly painful. This Chelsea team is quite ordinary yet they stifled us easily.

Not One manager has come up with any idea on how to breach a packed defense... Not one. Same fucking tactic pass, pass and pass some more. Real would have beaten this Chelsea 3-1. They know how to pass, bomb forward, shoot and hit crosses into the area. They actually show an urgency and purpose when faced with a parked bus.

Should we have gotten penalty?

No. IMO.

The year we beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge we had a squad and team that was well balanced. Physically strong yet with a degree of skill and unpredictability.

No they didn't. An equal score is very representative of this game.

? willian had three very clear, dangerous chances, one of which went in. by my count we had one clear cut chance, which also went in. on any other day two of willian's 3 go in, maybe 3. chelsea played the game they were supposed to play and we very nearly lost (it was a mistake on their part, not brilliance on ours, that led to our goal).

im thrilled with the result and optimistic about the return leg, but chelsea played a tactically super game and they were unlucky not to grab the narrow win.

Yup. Sick of the "muh parked bus muh italian tactics" excuse made time and time again only for Madrid to face the same invincible italian tactics and score 5.

Maybe? Could have gotten one but Suarez OVERACTED. Most of the time, he raises his hand mid-air before going to the ground and overact just to get the attention of the ref. It's so stupid, it only gives the referee the impression that every foul against him are dives. Why not just take the foul and fall normally?

Chelsea played a great game defensively, not so good on the counter. Also think the better tactic would've been to play Morata alongside Hazard against this type of Barca.

We need to step up though in QF.

You are right about tactics. Should have played Girourd. Or Moraga.

We are not through to quarters yet.
