You don't need crazy assists numbers from De Jong and Arthur ffs! We need them to combine well, relieve the pressure in central areas, and find our forwards with good passes. If they can do that and Valverde gets his tactics right unlike the previous seasons, we can beat anyone in Europe. You could see vs Inter that when we clicked we were two levels above them and Inter are one of the most in form teams in Europe.

Wijnaldum was excellent and aside from him thought only Bergwijn played well. Rest of team played below level and didn’t look motivated. Frenkie had many misplaced passes and didn’t step in top receive the ball from his teammate leading to Belarus player picking it up. His head wasn’t fully there.

Just going by the nice runs he looked good, but that’s a secundary task of his.

Edit: Apparently Koeman blames him for not tracking back and marking his man who scored the goal for Belarus. Left van Dijk defending two players.

Like I said, his head was somewhere else.

FdJ is still learning and will make mistakes but he has the potential to be central to Barca's success for the next decade. the He oozes class and has the toolkit to be one of the best midfielder of his generation. He shares a lot of attributes of peak Modric.

Action=reaction. He makes that mf play more electrifying then the attack itself. Go watch rakitic highlights of the match today against wales. A perfect 'pass to the back running like a horse but too slow for anything' example why we suck big time.

Frenkie is amazing and will be a historical player for Barca. I was just arguing that his last game wasn’t a good one.

People tend to overfocus and overexaggerate every single match by our new darlings because of too much excitement after years of drab mf at Barca. This was just standard, non-issue safe passing match for him. Nothing bad or good.

Those physical stats from his trainingsessions explains why he is a sure starter for Valverde: He covers so much ground, but is intelligent about it, not a headless chicken.
And the fact that his physicality is not his best quality; his vision, passing and foresight are.
