Head to head comparison vs last La Liga season

Idea is to keep track of squad performance vs last season, to have comparable information (schedules are different each season, but opponents are the same)
Relegated sides are replaced by the ones who got promoted in same order (Sporting Gijon - Levante; Osasuna - Girona; Granada - Getafe):

Round 1: home vs Real Betis (2-0)
    Last season (1-1)
    Standings: 3p (2-0) vs 1p (1-1)

Round 2: away vs Deportivo Alaves (0-2)
    Last season (0-6)
    Standings: 6p (4-0) vs 4p (7-1)

Round 3: home vs Espanyol (5-0)
    Last season (5-0)
    Standings: 9p (9-0) vs 7p (12-1)

Round 4: away vs Getafe (1-2)
    Last season (1-4)
    Standings: 12p (11-1) vs 10p (16-2)

Round 5: home vs Eibar (6-1)
    Last season (4-2)
    Standings: 15p (17-2) vs 13p (20-4)

Round 6: away vs Girona (0-3)
    Last season (0-3)
    Standings: 18p (20-2) vs 16p (23-4)

Round 7: home vs Las Palmas (3-0)
    Last season (5-0)
    Standings: 21p (23-2) vs 19p (28-4)

Round 8: away vs Atletico Madrid (1-1)
    Last season (1-2)
    Standings: 22p (24-3) vs 22p (30-5)

Round 9: home vs Malaga (2-0)
    Last season (0-0)
    Standings: 25p (26-3) vs 23p (30-5)

Round 10: away vs Atletic Bilbao (0-2)
    Last season (0-1)
    Standings: 28p (28-3) vs 26p (31-6)

Round 11: home vs Sevilla (2-1)
    Last season (3-0)
    Standings: 31p (30-4) vs 29p (34-6)
    Heading towards 92 points.

Round 12: away vs Leganes (0-3)
    Last season (1-5)
    Standings: 34p (33-4) vs 32p (39-7)
    Heading towards 92 points.

Round 12: away vs Valencia (1-1)
    Last season (2-3)
    Standings: 35p (34-6) vs 35p (42-9)
    Heading towards 90 points.

Round 13: home vs Celta Vigo (2-2)
    Last season (5-0)
    Standings: 36p (36-8) vs 38p (47-9)
    Heading towards 88 points.

Round 13: away vs Villareal (0-2)
    Last season (1-1)
    Standings: 39p (38-8) vs 39p (48-10)
    Heading towards 90 points.

    Real Madrid
    Standings: 91p (30-11) vs 38p (42-14), Heading towards 83 points

    Atletico
    Standings: 33p (24-7) vs 28p (31-14). Heading towards 83 points

    Valencia
    Standings: 34p (35-14) vs 21p (22-22). Heading towards 59 points

    Sevilla
    Standings: 28p (19-19) vs 24p (29-28). Heading towards 76 points

Nice comparison. I'd like to add that last season we did well against top teams (didn't lose any match vs. top 5-6)). Hard to expect us to do that again but we'll see.

We basically lost the league because slipping against poor teams.

Comparison for Real (majority of the games they lost points this season were also tough last season (2-1 narrow wins), difference is that no late Ramos goals this season.
Standings: 11p (11-6) vs 18p (19-6), Real is going towards 85 points with same amount of goals conceded but alot less scored.

    Comparison for Atletico
Standings: Standings: 14p (12-4) vs 16p (19-5). Atletico is going towards 76 points with alot less goals scored, but a few also less conceded.

Too early for any meaningful comparison. This can only be attempted after at least 10 games.

i plan on updating it after every round, never too early to start, was just curious on how we were doing vs last season compared to rivals and it is looking quite okey for now.

Have been on vacation for 2 weeks, but will keep this updated from now on. Updated with 2 last rounds for all 3 squads in first post.

Well let's put it this way, if we had exactly same schedule last season and games ended as they did, then yes, we would be at this stage. Same points, less goals scored but also less conceded.

Added also Valencia and Sevilla to complete most probably top 5 candidates. Interesting to see how completely different both teams look this season. Sevilla has suddenly turned into defensive stronghold, while Valencia is ripping teams apart in attack. Interesting to see that Sevilla is actually doing better vs similar opponents compared to last season.

Sevilla doesn't look so good defensively, and Berizoo will be sacked probably after a few weeks...

They did look good before game vs Valencia, had only 4 conceded goals vs gung-ho last season.
