We can safely sell Rakitic if we sign him.

He's a good midfielder and will add technique and the physicality needed as well.

Imagine a midfield of Coutinho - Busquets - Goretzka with Aleña as the next option in the pecking order along with Iniesta if he remains, Roberto and Lord.

Not the 'controller', but those are hard to find and might have to wait on that.

Also because he'll be free and I don't trust our management to make the right signings so at least getting a promising player would be better than potentially signing the Vermaelen of midfielders.

So we're heavily linked with him but so are bayern, would he not be more attracted to staying in Germany and possibly start for Bayern??

I haven't kept up much with bayerns midfield situation but Thiago/Vidals/James are starters and the rest like Tolisso / Kimmich are in rotation

I don't know much about this guy so where would he fit for us?
according to the posts here he is more of a defensive mid, so chances are sergio busquets wont be replaced by him so where do we plan on fitting him? the Rakitic/Paulinho spot on the right?

Not the typee of player Barca needs. He is not a creative player, he can be a defensive 8 if he improves his defensive game.

with Paulinho, Gomes and Rakitic, no need for him. will be a another useless signing.

l'd sell 2 of them and sign Milinko Savic instead.

According to MD, we want to sign in him January. they explain while it's true they can get him for free in July, they don't want to miss out on him and are willing to pay a transfer fee for him in the winter market.

Because maybe they'd rather at least get something for him than let him go for free to Bayern. But at the end it's Goretzka's decision where he wants to go. Unless they can convince him to renew his contract which is probably not very likely only thing Schalke can do is to keep him until his contract runs up. If they'll decide for that then they'll demand crazy money like 50M+ in January that no club will want to pay.

Don't see him coming here. We need a different type of midfielder and he needs playing time.

Our priority next summer needs to be left winger and a creative midfielder (if we aren't promoting Alena).
