Yes, Abelardo is doing a fantastic job. Alaves got 22 points in last 11 games after they've only had 6 points after first 13 games. Only Barça and Atletico have more points since December. These are alongside Athletic also the only teams that have beaten them. And to be fair, they probably deserved to get at least a point at Camp Nou as well.
Will be interesting to see how they'll do next week at Bernabeu but they are playing at home against Levante in midweek game so it's possible that Abelardo will focus more on that game because Levante is still considered as their rival in relegation battle though Alaves is currently 8 points ahead of Levante and 10 before 18th placed Las Palmas so I think with their current form they should be safe.
