No more tap ins and lo and behold the mediocrity underneath surfaces. I would say its crazy to start him vs Chelsea but with Valverde the crazy is the routine.

Interesting to note that not even the people who somehow think Paulinho is good haven't been able to laud him with praise since the Sociedad game. Ironically enough, that's the last time he scored.

He's always been an absolute nightmare of a player who can't pass, dribble, or defend but now that he isn't scoring either his fans can't pretend all of that doesn't matter. 8 goals for a player who's only use is scoring goals is pathetic. Maybe if he was able to contribute anything at all to the rest of the team his lack of goals wouldn't make his overall quality take such a drastic nosedive but unfortunately all we did was go out of our way to spend 40m on a 29 year old player from China who's only European experience was flopping spectacularly for a club with only a quarter of our class at the time.

@BBZ do you still think that it's important to have this "powerful" clown in the starting 11 ?
Could you explain what does he bring to the team and what did he ever bring except tap-ins ?

once we bring Arthur in next summer, Paulinho will likely return to the Chinese league. great start but he should absolutely NOT be starting a CL game

Not sure if he is running out of gas after playing many games since March or if this is just his normal level. Disappointing stuff.

It's his normal level. Nothing about his overall game has changed, he's just no longer scoring or even putting shots on target. As a midfielder scoring was never his role in the team and now that he's not doing it anymore the rest of his game being a 1/10 stands out a lot more.

I would not say he is absolutely brilliant player, but well if you say so.

Powerlinho plays well when he gets to do his box to box thing. He is no attacking or wide midfielder and shouldn't be used as such.

Messi and Paulinho I feel have been the biggest losers in Valverde's system changes. Messi can play anywhere so he just gets on with it but Paulinho will struggle.
