I'm trying my hardest to find something, some reason why we would buy this guy, age, wages, league aside and there is literally nothing.

He lacks creativity, not too good defensively just an average all rounder.. which we don't need and have about 5 of for the midfield position already.

We needed a deep playing midfielder like Verratti or Eriksen to take on that Xavi role... and a creative CM to take over the Iniesta role.

I see nothing here but corruption.

No, what they mean is that he took a paycut of a total of 7.5 millions through the 4 year duration of his contract.

If Barca actually manage to win something, he'll get all and more back through bonuses anyway.
