Matthijs de Ligt

What is the fucking use of getting Todibo if we are not even giving him a sniff of a chance. It would be a pretty shitty move if we loan or sell him. The guy goes to war with his club only to be treated as some bargaining chip. This send the wrong message to young players with potential. They will just reject us and look for a club where they will get minutes.

At 19 De Ligt has the physique of a 35 year old. Too slow and heavy imo. I would give Todibo some sort of opportunity before we loan or sell.

Not too keen on de Ligt myself. Think RM got quite the deal with Militao. That’s the kinda pace we need at the back, and they even had Varane already. We are really far behind in that area and it shows in so many of our games.

Yep. I prefer a more dynamic cb with pace. I think we're going a little crazy with ball playing CBS. We already have Pique and Lenglet.

Ajax will never accept a buyback deal. (99% of the time these deals are bs rumors anyway)

Had a poor performance yesterday but wasnt superbad.i would rate him 5/10 yesterday. 1st goal could happen. 3th was somewhat worrying as he positioned himself wrong.

Have to say that Sané is brilliant. Joy to watch him play

VVD was just as poor at times yesterday and people consider him the next coming of Jesus Christ.

The whole defensive organization was very bad for the dutch team yesterday, especially in the first half. Yes, De Ligt had an average game but to single him out when the whole defense, hell, the whole team, shat the bed is wrong.

This, people keep saying he has "barca DNA" but I am starting to wonder what is Barca DNA for Barca CB.
For me it is the ability to play on highline defense and ability to play on ball. He is heavy and clearly struggling more in high line, and no, it isn't just one game as this has been pointed out since October.
For me De Ligt will play his best at teams like Atletico or Juve to replace a CB with leadership and great spirit like Godin or Chiellini. The only starting CB I've seen in Barca that was slower is Pique and Pique was a generational talent who was very tall and smart. And even then Pique was most ridiculed defender when he wasn't in form because he couldn't survive then without speed.

Well, let's hope you are wrong then, which shouldn't be out of the question.

Right, 1st half De Ligt and VVD were 1:1 vs Gnabry and Sané. 2nd half Promes played more defensive covering the left side, freeing up Blind to help in the center. Basically what is the best way to counter that attacking formation. Besides from higher intensity of the whole team. Shows what a different small things can make sometimes.

Not De Ligts best game for sure but it's aleays hard to defend vs these winger/striker type players if they have space so not that bad. 1st goal can happen to anyone, at the 3rd he didn't look good but can't always avoid mistakes after all.

Hahaha!

Luckily Barca isn't as retarded as many on this forum.
Dayum, the amount of rubish you come across while reading this forum and its topics.

Pure gold.

Seriously

People forget that at his age Pique was fighting for a spot at Zaragoza, then the season after it barely played 3 games for United (who admittedly has the best CB pair at the time). This post isn't to shit on Pique, but just to put into perspective how young De Ligt is.

De Ligt has plenty of time to improve and is obviously a step ahead of most CBs his age. It's a no brainer, get him and there is a very high chance your defence will be sorted out for the next decade, just like what happened with Pique.

VVD plays in PL, highly competitive legaue were you can rate him weekend by weekend +cl and cups, at the same time de ligt play in poor legaue like eredivision... Of course fans will draw conclusion based on his performances vs top teams, rather then vs den haag or groningen, like you guys stream those matches, yeah right, im sure Mina would look like thuram there, and halilovic next big thing.. Ajax has goal difference there 88:22, enough said

Edit: if he was poor against germany, why searching for excuses, he is still young and has time to learn, but he isnt WC defender, could turn into one, but also fail, not the first, not the last young cb talent

People forget that at his age Pique was fighting for a spot at Zaragoza.

Zaragoza who at that time was one of Liga toughest team, finished respectable 6th in Liga (4 points away from CL qualification), we barely knocked them out from CDR QF with away goal rule and had one of the best CBs in the world at that time in Milito.

then the season after it barely played 3 games for United (who admittedly has the best CB pair at the time).

He played more than 3 games, was more of 3rd CB for them, and SAF admitted it was one of the biggest mistakes he ever made.

This post isn't to shit on Pique, but just to put into perspective how young De Ligt is.

Problem is, it doesn't.
Ruben Neves or Tielemans was starters in good teams in lower league at same age Busquets was unknown player in Juvenil A. Players from lower league (and NT too) has easier way to get promoted and get 1st team exposure.
There is many cases of early bloomers in football, there is a good chance De ligt is one of them. And there is very legit questions about his fit here with his lack of speed and struggles in space.

I don't know how much would including Todibo in a deal even lower De Ligt's price. It really depends on how much Ajax wants Todibo. I don't think they consider him as a must get and they surely have a list of young CBs/DMs (if they see him more as a midfileder) they can buy with money they'll get for MDL/FDJ. Loan would make sense from our standpoint but not really much from Ajax's perspective. If we can lower MDL's price for around 10M I would "give" them Todibo but include a buy back of around 20M for the next 2-3 years. But again, I doubt Ajax would want to include any buy back option.

So if we really want MDL I think we should forget about including players and negotiate the best possible deal we can with Ajax (if he really wants to come here we could use that as a leverage but we should still be careful not to ruin relationship with them longterm) and loan Todibo to La Liga team for a year or two. We shouldn't forget he's still very raw with only 10 senior football matches on his resume so getting regular playing time next season should be a priority for him.

Edit: I'm reading Sport article now. They are only mentioning a (multi-year from what I'm understanding) loan. Don't know if this really make sense from a financial standpoint (reducing De Ligt's price) but surely if it's only for a few millions and they would give him regular minutes I'm ok with this.
