as said in the Neymar thread. imo the moment our board got wind of Neymar wanting to leave PSG, we dropped operation De Ligt like a brick.

i don't think the wages for De Ligt will be as high as people are predicting either, we most likely lost out due to Barto not showing enough intent
... and Valverde not showing any interest in him at all ( allegedly)

would be funny if Juve/Barca aren't willing to offer the wages he wants and he ends up staying with Ajax another season

When some wanted player picks barca as a club to go, its because history, tradition, football philosophy, messi, this and that... When a wanted player picks some other club, because money, its hilarious, saying such things when knowing barca gives probably best salaries and doesnt mind paying 150m for a talent.

Players are guided with money, who pays more he will go there, if 2 clubs are paying almost the same, player will consider city where the club is, so for example if barca and united wants same player, offer almost same amount of money, decision will be, live in rainy england or on mediterranian coast in most coolest city, pick will be obviously barcelona, even if they offer slightly less money, that is that "paycut" players are willing to take when coming here

About de ligt and his pick, juve probably offered more, they have coach who prefers attractive football, and italy is quite nice country, not a bad pick.

plus he will play with ronaldo and if lucky, he will learn something from him, how to stay professional and always be motivated when challenge arise

He’ll learn the dark arts of defending from Chielini

Add to that in Italy defenders are relatively more appreciated than they would be in other places

Noone knows what's going on and wether he really asks for that kind of money.

Only thing that's sure is; we can't guarantee him starting spot and noone can be impressed with Valverde's call. Unless you are from his former club Valencia.

De Ligt joining some other club for 3-4 years still works for us. We're not that desperate to sign a cb.

He's going to Juve. Oriol Domenech just confirmed it on twitter and several Italian reporters are now saying the transfer could be finalized in the next hours. I'm thinking it'll be announced tomorrow.
