Ernesto Valverde - V1

Another time the Basque Tony Pulis tried Vidal-Rakitic-Busquets midfield (BBZ's favourite), unsurprisingly it once again went tits up.

Enough.

4-3-3 works when you have the players for it and right now without Arthur or Messi sticking on the wings, it just won't work.

Behold the triple pivot.

But the 4-2-3-1 at least on an attacking sense we have the players for it and it allows us to finally have wings since Messi stays in the Middle.

Yet no trophies.

Come back when Valverde has done something close to what Klopp achieved at Borussia Dortmund building that team to become the beasts they were.

I know you love to be a huge homer and stick your head in the sand, but please let's not call Klopp for a clown if you're going to glorify Valverde to be some kind of a saviour or super impressive manager with an outstanding CV.

Not sure why you're bringing up EV, this is about Klopp, the perpertual final bottler.

Klopp acts like a clown which managers like Mourinho have alluded to, his direct style also does not suit Barcelona.

He left Dortmund in a bad state by the end too after taking advantage of Bayern's rebuilding period.

Bayern reached CL finals in 2010, 2012, and 2013, so calling that a rebuilding period is a bit strange.

Klopp also managed the underdog in practically every final, and you could just as easily call managers like Pep or Mou bottlers then for not even reaching a CL final since 2010 or 2011.

I'm just so happy we tied him down to a contract so we don't need to worry about Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern, Juve, Man City, and Man United all trying to poach him off us.

Klopp is a fantastic coach, just imagine Valverde taking over Liverpool back then they would probably be lucky if they could compete with Arsenal right now instead of fighting for the league title.

But he doesn't suit Barcelona. His style wouldn't work well here, he is best when he can play his high speed pressing and kinda plays advanced underdog football. Not every good coach is suited for every job, Cholo wouldn't work here either. Liverpool is pretty much the perfect fit for Klopp when it comes to big clubs imo. If any german coach then Tuchel :)

Yet another masterclass from BBZ's workhorse midfield- Check

Yet another Ernesta special to celebrate his renewal- Check

Umtiti playing 90 minutes as soon as he can walk- Check

Everyone knowing Vidal shouldn't start games except Valmierda- Check

Chance to see Semedo-Dembele crushed to fulfill Valgreen's Bob fetish- Check

FC Messi in top form while FC Barcelona suffers- Check

Coutinho lazier than a sloth, still only 12 minutes for Alena- Check

Lazy Malcom rightfully benched for not managing to make himself cost 160m- Check

Malmierda surprising with attacking subs, which unsurprisingly yielded results- Check

Raki-Busi looking better when they don't have to create, still will continue to be played together by Malverde- Check

Boateng and Murillo continuing to enjoy their paid Barcelona vacations- Check

Agree with everything except that Bob came on and actually played very well.

I never coached anyone, never played football professionally...but I could do prety much the same...hire fitness coach to keep fit, and tactic would be: pass it to Messi and just wait for something.
No defensive plan, actually very bad team positioning in defence, awful pressing without cordination, slow static transition and attack without any trained movement.

Yep. Basically make sure everyone is reasonably happy, and if you are to make someone unhappy - because after a point this becomes inevitable, make sure it's not the seniors who can make your life a lot harder if pissed off.

As long as the seniors are comfortable, they will like you. And if the seniors like you, the board likes you too. You have a very high chance to win a double every season almost just by not making too much noise, considering AM and Madrid are cup teams these days who don't have enough consistency to mount a serious league challenge all the way through.

And of course, you get your yearly cold shower, getting knocked out in CL every season by inferior teams on paper, since being comfortable and laid-back never worked in this competition, like, ever.
