There's more to the Liverpool game than just to blame the fullbacks for that one.

We started one of the worst Midfields that had next to no mobility and with only one of those players (Vidal) having Mobility while at the same time only one of those players (Busi) having any press resistance whatsoever.

If you include having perhaps the slowest and a low work rate Suarez and Messi and Coutinho it's just the icing on the cake really. We fielded perhaps the worst kind of match up against a team like Liverpool and we paid the price big time.

Tie against Liverpool was not much different than the Bayern games under Lucho. Home game was a mirror match almost where the game was pretty even in the first 70 or so minutes then Barca got the upper hand late in the game and could have scored even more on the break. Liverpool had 1 big chance from Salah like Bayern had a huge chance by Lewa or Müller (I forgot, but they were almost taking the lead in 2015).

If anything, Bayern were more all over Barca in Allianz than Liverpool last season at Anfield by a large margin. Go and check the stats:

https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/9...ions-League-2014-2015-Bayern-Munich-Barcelona

Bayern with 19 vs. 5 shots and 55 % possession. Ter Stegen with 5 saves (arguably also his best big stage game in his career) on top of receiving 2 goals, so Bayern could have easily scored 4 that day. And we're talking about prime MSN Barca with Alves and Iniesta still there.

Only difference was Neymar making 2 quick goals from simple long balls, one of them from a ter Stegen goal kick. Other than that Barca was on the back foot with little possession and little shots, getting dominated all game long.

Barca at Anfield were much better last season, Allison was their 2nd highest rated player that game, yet one scoreline reads 2-3 and the other 0-4. Football is a game like that so it truly is "what it is" and I still refuse to blame it on Valverde. There is simply no logic to it. It had nothing to do with "if we had played Arthur/Semedo" or "system". This team was always weak away from home, sometimes it survived, sometimes it got blown away, sometimes it could turn it over in Camp Nou, sometimes it couldn't. Be it 1-3 vs. Inter, 0-2 vs. Banter Milan led by Niang, 0-4 vs. PSG, 0-3 vs. Juventus or 1-2 vs. Arsenal in 2011.

This team has the biggest chances to win the CL only when the 2nd leg is in Camp Nou. Second leg away against a top 5 team in the world? Adios.

Totally different games.

Lucho set up away to Bayern to leave Messi, Neymar and Suarez up the park knowing Bayern would create a ton of chances bit one chance for front three and the tie was done.

Away to Liverpool Barca shat the bed and the game at no point was going to plan even if did have a couple of chances.

The Bayern away game and the Liverpool away game are way different.

We actually looked capable of creating chances whenever we wanted on the counter against a Bayern chasing the game. The front 3 was able to slice through that Bayern team at will. They clearly let off the gas and shifted down a few gears after it was 2-1 Barca(5-1 aggregate). Suarez was also subbed off at half-time.

There was never any concern because everyone knew the team could turn up the intensity if the scoreline got closer.

Can hardly compare these matches, the return leg against Bayern was basically done after 15 minutes when Neymar scored the 1-1 (meaning Bayern would need to win 5-1), and 99% over after Neymar scored the 2nd goal, leaving Bayern with around 60 minutes to score 5 goals while conceding 0 to MSN. At that point it was more about pride for them while the Barca team knew they got it. So comparing the stats doesn't make any sense given how the game developed.

If Barca would've scored early at Anfield then it could've been similar, it probably would've been enough to win. But that didn't happen as we all know.

 Bayern at home was nothing like the Liverpool game. We could easily have been 4-5 up by the time Messi scored, while the Liverpool game could easily have ended 3-3. Neuer was Bayern's best player until Messi's goal, while Ter Stegen had basically nothing to do.

Performance at home vs Liverpool wasn't bad but it wasn't even close to the Bayern game under Lucho.

And yeah not starting our most press resistant midfielder against a team famous for their pressing totally didn't matter

Kind of meh game. Had a couple of really good actions, but he was sloppy with his passing and unusually slow.

Kind of given up on him. He just doesn’t seem to have what it takes to play at the highest level. We would do well to find him a new home this summer. He should probably be playing for a counterattacking team.

Nah. I think we need to adapt to the current situation. He is good enough to play for us, but not great enough to be a standout like Alves was. That would be a correct evaluation imo.

I believe the wait the attack is constructed and as along as Messi spends most of his time on the right side. We need a full back who can win one v ones and has decent composure in attacking situations. Otherwise we will keep playing with a one sided attack.

There aren't any superstar fullbacks out there. No Alves, Lahm or anything. Most of the big teams have right-backs as good or even weaker than Semedo. Semedo and Alba aren't really problems in our team imo.

Winger, Box to Box midfielder, Forward. These are the 3 spots where we need to reinforce the team.

Don’t know if instructed but seems like Semedo and Firpo were holding back their runs. Saw a few of them. At least first half.
