Anyway, hope he keeps the good work for them. I won't get my hopes up about Barça hiring him. If lucho leaves, Unzue or Koeman are likely to be the next coach.
    Valverde also likely, isn't he?

Yeah. I think it'll be between Valverde, Eusebio or Sampaoli.

    Perhaps even Unzue. Who knows.

Sampaoli should definitely be on top of that list but who knows what such an incomptetent board will decide ?

How did pep hook up with him?
Being a good tactician is only a part of being a good coach. Maybe he's a poor motivator or doesn't have needed charisma to be a successfull coach on his own. Sampaoli has that so that's maybe why they are a good fit together (I'm not saying that Sampaoli is a bad tactician just that it probably helps him to have another good one as his right hand). I've also read that Lillo was responsible for transition of players from Chile's youth teams to their senior NT so maybe working with youngsters is one of his strong points as well.

How about Ronald Koeman? Ex player, played under Cruyff when we won our first european title back in 1992?

Personally I don't like Koeman as a coach too much.

Why should it always be a former player? Sampaoli should be the main target this summer. Let him bring his assistant and bring in Monchi as well. We would be near inbeatable the next five years.

Because our most successful coaches happened to be all former very good players either here or somewhere else. Lucho,Rijkaard,Pep Crujif etc.
This club is built on certain philosophies with entertaining football and star based too. Being former player makes you understand how to act with all this star power in the team tbh.
It doesn't have to be former player, but it has always looked like the safer bet

If Lucho wants to leave after this year this should be our guy. I would like to see his intensity on the touch line

Lucho doesn't seem to understand those certain philosophies. I'm pretty sure Sampaoli would be more understanding

Few days ago, Jorge Sampaoli took part in Onda Cero's radio show "El Transistor".

You can listen/watch the entire interview (around 49 minutes). but found translations in most of Sampoli's quotes in that interview.

Samapoli was talking about his beginnings in football after working at the bank. "They called me Maradona because I was never in the bank working, I went to the bar to talk about football." He undertook the difficult task of being a coach due to "without a footballing background it is almost impossible to be a coach in Argentina".

with Sampa, that wouldn't be an issue though. Pretty sure his players love him. Anyways, our players are smart. Stars or not, I'm sure they njoy playin for him.
Entertainment factor will always be there, it's something in the grass

What we need more than anything is a motivator.
