FC Barcelona has agreed to invite to the next edition of the Joan Gamper Trophy the Brazilian team Chapecoense, who were the victims of the tragic plane crash when on the way to play the final of the Copa Sudamericana in Colombia on 28 November.

FC Barcelona wants to pay tribute to the 71 people who died in the accident and their families, and will therefore make the 2017 Joan Gamper Trophy a great tribute to the world of football through various activities around this match which will become known as the date of this celebration approaches.

Along with the invitation to Chapecoense to the 2017 Joan Gamper Trophy, FC Barcelona would like to collaborate on the institutional and sporting reconstruction of the Club, and help to recover the competitive level that it had.

FC Barcelona has today sent a formal letter of invitation to the current Board of Directors of Chapecoense.

This is absolute wonderful gesture from the club. I'm glad to this news.

Hopefully, Chapecoense will accept the invitation.

Can't really see them reject it, even bigger clubs think it's an honor.

Lovely gesture from the club.

We should give all proceeds generated from this match to Chapecoense to help them in their rebuilding process.

What sort of performance will we be expected to put in against them. Do we show some sympathy and go easy let them score a few goals and maybe even win. Or do we go all out and push for the win and maybe put 7 or 8 past them

Great gesture from Barca to invite them. I heard Ronaldinho will play for them, I just hope he will still be the part of the team next year so he returns to Camp Nou. Would be nice to see him again.

Ronaldinho (alongside Gudjohnsen and some other big name players) just offered himself to play for them but Chapecoense president said they don't plan to sign those (ex) star players because they want to build a new team their way. Probably with lesser known and cheaper players who will stay with them longer than the likes of Ronaldinho would. And they will also get a lot of players on loan obviously.
