but then again, his shoe laces were off, because he was fouled. so why should he leave the pitch instantly. this is against the spirit and law of the game in my opinion, to gain an advantage with foul play administrated by the person who should make sure there is fair play.

exactly. the yellow is totally rubbish.

Horrible first half. Feared the worst in the early stages when Sevilla were running rampant through our midfield. Credit to the players for grinding out the win in the end.

Credit where it's due. But very very scary for Barca when Messi will not play anymore. Too much dependency on him... quite ridiculous.

Messidependencia has been a recurring issue from the 10/11 season onwards.

The day he retires will change this team on a fundamental level because what he does can't be replicated and his influence on Barca's general playstyle is so big that it would be largely unsustainable without him. It's the Chicago Bulls without Jordan. After he retires, Barca's playstyle will be heavily altered one way or the other.

Very happy and grateful to the win today.

As many have mentioned, we were terrible in the first half and very good in the second half. It is really perplexing and frustrating to see that we are often an "one half" team these days, another case in point was what we did against City on Tuesday. Why is that? Are we not physically or mentally prepared to play 90 minutes with the same level of efforts and readiness? Why do we often have this sort of startling contrast between the two halves these days? Are we trying to save our energy or something? Or was that some sort of tactical decision from Luis Enrique?

In today's case, perhaps it was Luis Enrique's pep talk at the intermission, perhaps it was because Sevilla couldn't press us as intensively as they did in the first half. If it was the latter, that means we still don't have a plan to deal with or we don't know how to react to pressing from our opponents, which is very worrying.

After the Sevilla goal, Messi started putting in immense effort, including on defense. This lit a fire under players like Sergi and Denis, who started using their energy and athleticism to great effect.

This game was a tribute to the Barca physical conditioning. Barca made Sevilla pay for the short turnaround since their CL game Wednesday, and for the very high Sevilla energy expenditure in the first half. Sevilla deserves huge respect for the quality of their play in the first half, that was just beautiful.
