Griezmann ended 3rd.

And what a terrible list they came up with. I thought being disconnected from fifa would change something, but it's also just hype.

Griezmann ahead of Suarez is a joke. Neymar 5th another, he's not even top 20 this year. And ofc, the biggest joke of all, cr winning that after having one of his poorest years as a player. Got lucky his teams won stuff for him.

Don't really care that much this time as it's been pretty obvious who would win since that CL final back in June. People shouldn't stress it too much, though. I think Messi will win a lot of easy individual awards late in his career when Ronaldo is even more of joke than he is now.

Do we have statistics comparing the top players? Is it an Award for 2016 or for 2015/16? I would like see the following numbers per top 5 player:
- Matches played (club+NT)
- Whoscored.com rating average
- Goals scored
- Assists

Can we get those numbers?

Then, because it is 'France Football', everything related to the European Championship has to be weighted much higher. That's the only way for Griezmann to beat Messi and Suarez.

People should forget about Whoscored ratings.

For forwards, look at minutes played, goals per minute, assists per minute, shots per game, shot conversion rate, dribbles per game, dribbling conversion rate, chances created. These stats give at least a basic picture of a player.

This award is just another proof that people in general are sheep. You would think that journalists have to have their own opinion about something, if they write about it. But, the truth is they are sheep like many other football fans.

On one side you have a player who creates magic almost all the time, the best player in the world in almost every aspect of the game, a player who dictates tempo, assists, dribbles like crazy, scores like crazy and in the end of the year has most goals and assists in the world.

On the other side you have a declining player, who is a spectator in almost every big game, who got lucky to be in the teams that won trophies this year and the biggest arguments for him winning the award were that he scored a penalty in CL final and drove Portugal to the Euro title with his energy from the sidelines (this alone is a wtf argument). But, he has a gigantic marketing machinery behind him, because he is mafioso Florentino`s golden boy and they were constantly putting out newspaper articles with titles about him winning the award for sure. And look what happens, sheep vote for him, even though they probably knew he didn`t have the best INDIVIDUAL year of all the players.

That`s classic psychology. If you want to go left, but you see a hundred people in front of you go right, you will go right too. People are sheep.

But, as our golden man once said - A lion doesn`t concern himself with the opinion of sheep.
He will go down in history as one of the greatest and that`s the only thing that matters. Shitnaldo can have his b`dors, that no one will care about in 10-15 years.

Suarez should've won it.

As for this FIFA Men's Best Player award...I suppose that will go to Penaldo too.

In 10-15 years, that's exactly when people will care about it. In the future the debate between Messi and Ronaldo will be based on number of Ballons, stats and highlight reels in which the brilliance of Messi isn't fully shown.

Messi's stats are unbelievably better than Ronaldo's. Someone who only counts goals isn't using stats. As said elsewhere, look at shots per game, shot conversion, shots outside the box/goals outside the box, assisted vs unassisted goals, dribbling rate, dribbling success rate, chances created, throughballs, etc, and you'll find Messi trounces Ronaldo in every single one of them.

Highlights-wise, well, Messi will end his career with hours on end of noteworthy footage. Cristiano will have his goals and his abs.

Most goals and assists in La Liga history. Normally a player gets one or the other...but Messi ain't normal.

Ronaldo will win the BD even if he was on a stretcher for most of the year as long as Real Madrid wins trophies. He will win it as long as he is on Real Madrid's payroll. BD is all about silverware, which is so retarded.

Is this still a thing to you guys ?
Most awards like such are all about marketing and hyping up the nominees nowadays, and bdor just been added to the list recently.
This reminds me of MTV, the good ol' days when you could really say the awards were rewarded based on merit and you would enjoy it and look at it now its just another shitshow.
