As if FIFA hasn't ruined the awards reputability with that farce of a voting extension in 2013, Neymar at 5 after his atrocious 2016 just proves that no one on the voting panel watches any matches and marketing trumps all else. Ronaldo wins and Neymar at number 5 gimme a break.

Big handicap for Barça to have South American players that don' t participate in European Championships (played in France 2016). In addition, players are tired and jet lagged when they return from international breaks. Barça lost the Clasico this spring because of that. Probably lost CL too because of South American NT matches.

Do we have statistics comparing the top players? Is it an Award for 2016 or for 2015/16? I would like see the following numbers per top 5 player:
- Matches played (club+NT)
- Whoscored.com rating average
- Goals scored
- Assists
Can we get those numbers?
Then, because it is 'France Football', everything related to the European Championship has to be weighted much higher. That's the only way for Griezmann to beat Messi and Suarez.
