Neymar Jr. - v5

He won't escape Messi's shadow in Paris nor Mars. There is also no global recognition to be had in the French league, but If he needs to be the big fish in a small pond that badly he can always go the Ukranian league or back to Brazil. If PSG had no money do you think he would even contemplate it?

The height of Zlatan's career was in Paris, same for Cavani & Thiago Silva. Mbappe has become an international star in half a season playing for Monaco, etc. Neymar is a global star, where he goes supporters(us!), sponsors(nike), and investors will follow. He'll be fine.

Those who are arguing Neymar is only making a move(potentially) for money are naive in my opinion. Go read the comment sections of Globo and Interativo to get an impression of how excited Brasilian's are at the idea of seeing Neymar escape the shadow of Messi. Detach yourself from the love you have for your club for a moment and think about how the leader of Seleção playing sidekick to best player of Argentina is accepted by us. Messi is your man and so you dismiss any notion that Neymar could approach his class, but Neymar's is ours and we know better. We see what he does when his team plays through him rather than him being forced to play through Messi, and we know he has the qualities to be the best in the world. If PSG can provide him a platform to be recognized as the best, on top of doubling his wages, why would we want any differently for him? Why would he want any different for himself?

And before you lecture me on what playing for Barca means, understand that SA is a half a world away, and that we have our own clubs with storied histories who we support and love. Understand also that we do not view PSG the same as you. Europeans look at the move as a step down, many of us view it as necessary to his development.

Sorry are you Neymar or Barca fan? PSG can't provide him with nothing except playing in the league which is hugely inferior to spanish league. But maybe for him it's more important to be first in his village than second in the city as we in Croatia would say.

If you ask me if he is sooo good he can show that right here there is no need to go to PSG. If he is on the leve of Messi than show it. Is someone maybe stoping him from doing that?

No matter how you look at it, moving from Barca to PSG is a step down in your career. Ok, you might finally be the top dog, but in a league no one cares about. So you are basically left with the CL.

It's a step down to Europeans, for us it's a step he needs to make to become the best. Also, should Neymar move PSG they will become the most followed in Brasil of all European clubs. The next generation of Brasilian players will be looking up to him in a PSG shirt, as he looked up to Ronaldinho in a Barca shirt.

You're welcome

It's not so much about what will probably happen but rather what Neymar himself believes. He might figure he has little chance at winning Balon d'Or at PSG, but maybe that is even more than the chance he thinks he has at Barca.

Also, he doesn't need to play better than Messi at PSG to win the balon. If PSG wins CL he will win it, period.
At Barca, he can win CL and be CL topscorer but it will still go to Messi.

If PSG had no money do you think he would even contemplate it?

That seems fair no? Unlimited financial resources gives a club a huge strength.

This is not Selecao. On club level you don't have nationality. In Barcelona there should not be Argentina/Brazil rivalry. Many great players being arch-rivals in the national teams played side by side and vice versa. Look at the NT of Spain, RM and Barca players play side by side and won trophies. If for Neymar it's a problem that there are no Brazilians in Barca, it's his problem and doesn't look nice.

Who is saying he is on the level of Messi?

No, not allowed in France

What? I doubt France rules trumps international law. Some players may not be in the position of demanding a release clause, but you can bet he's not moving there without a way to get out.

If your employer can force you to work for him no matter what happens, that's slavery according to modern UN legislation. Yeh, a very rich one.
