Neymar Jr. - v5

I don't like him but the diving harass he gets is way overexaggerated, he is the most fouled player in top Europe and its the case for multiple seasons now, when he played for us the referees literally don't pull out cards until 70' min into the game and its the 20th foul, not gonna say any names but many players have much worse foul/dive ratios than him.

Actually, most of the fouls he gets are real fouls. The problem with him is he exaggerates them to the point where referees no longer blow their whistles.

The referees did fuck all to protect him when he had stopped diving at barca and was getting fouled left, right and centre. He almost got his career ended with a tackle which he neither provoked nor exxagerrated and that tackle didn't end up being a yellow or even a foul. From the outside it may seem ridiculous but what have the refs done to protect his safety? His game is to dribble and create and he gets fouled which is an occupational hazard but yellows don't come out easily which leads to more fouls on him.

It's a chicken and egg situation. 99% of the time, players like Suarez and Neymar go down as if they have lost a limb. The referees are right to err on the side of not buying their bullshit. How many times have you seen players get carded for less against Iniesta for example? Suarez is the absolute worst. He doesn't even get fouled often and goes down clutching his face it's INFURIATING.

Having said that, I think referees should be more proactive and call fouls/yellows/reds when players are genuine. For example - when Messi gets hacked away game after game after game, he ONLY gets a yellow after many such challenges, and ONLY after he goes down. ALL those shitty challenges that he just rides or doesn't make a meal of, they go unpunished by the referee. Neymar fanboys will make the argument that that's the reason he dives, but there's a middle ground. You don't have to be like Messi (because not many people have the skill to do what he does riding the challenges) but clutching your legs as if they've been chainsawed off doesn't serve any purpose, and referees will obviously be more cynical.

lmao if you can't see he's a diver like CR7 or suarez or robben, there's no hope for you.

Defending his behavior is pure fanboyism. He's a diver. One of the worst.

Exaggerations nowhere else to be seen.

Imo, such behavior should be penalized even outside of the box.

Let me just add to my last post that not ALL of his dives can be redeemed from that excuse. That dive for example against costa rica(?) was a purely intentional dive to win a penalty and not for 'protection'.
