The best thing that could happen to Messi is swapping clubs with Penaldo.

See how good Penaldo is surrounded by this Barca side and if he can win them any titles. While Messi surrounded by great players in Madrid could win more league titles, Champions Leagues and Ballon D'ors. Instead Ronaldo will continue to win them and increasingly by mass opinion will get the legacy of the best player because he'll have won more Champions League and Ballon Dors.

This season if Messi keeps playing like this The Ballon D'or 2018 will be incoming :barcascarf:

Messi was brilliant in 2017. By a mile the best in the world, but he won't win it because Real won the CL and Ronaldo scored a load of goals in the knockouts.

2018 will depend on the World Cup. If Ronaldo and Messi don't have a great tournament (or Neymar with Brazil)( then it's all on the CL. Barca aren't good enough against the best sides to win the CL and they'd never get the Real dream draw of 2016 or refereeing luck of 2017.

The "false nine" tactic was used out of necessity, due to Suarez' injury. Sure it brings tons of goals to Messi, but in the long run the Argentine becomes predictable - the Chelsea 1/2 finals in 2012 and Bayern Munich in 2013.

Messi wasn't fit against Bayern in 2013, played one game coming back from injury to soon, didn't play the other game. Game against Chelsea was a lot of bad luck.

For full glory the club needs a predator striker like Eto'o, David Villa and Luis Suarez (before his decline which, I'm afraid, seems irreversible now).

David Villa mostly played on the wing while Messi played as false 9 back then. Could that work with Suarez?

Anyhow, he should play through the center, as a false 9 or behind a center forward.

I am suggesting Messi playing behind Suarez

-------Suarez-----
LW----Messi-----RW

I'd rather have Messi as a false 9 but being supplied properly like Ronaldo is. Dembele, Coutinho and even Deulefeu in games like yesterday and off the bench can help do that.

Suarez is fucking terrible now and a dead loss. Having Messi sat deep, with 4 opposition defenders around him trying to set Suarez up to fuck up every move isn't going to work.

Sure Suarez can dribble, but he lost some of that speed in the last couple of seasons. And this tactic hasn't been tried ever since late 2014, his early days at Barcelona. Anyway I like the fact that Valverde is trying different tactics, forced by Neymar's departure.

Board asking MD to say that, right? Can't imagine Messi asking them to sign Paulinho.

Any Catalan news about Messi asking a player is their propaganda. Messi has stated many times that he has never asked any specific players.

So first it was Neymar who wanted his friend Paulinho to join in order to stay and now it's Messi who wanted him to join
Next: "It was Iniesta who wanted Paulinho as his successor and Busquets threatened to leave the Club if they didn't sign Paulinho to help him in the Midfield"
:lol:Catalan Media:lol:
