Just read on Twitter that Tebas said from what he’s heard, Messi has signed his extension. Take that with a grain of salt. In all honestly I’d be shocked if he left but who knows.

He should know. All player contracts are lodged with the LFP.

I didn't know that the clubs had to inform La Liga about player renewals!

LFP, who's president is Tebas, are to be informed about all player contracts, their duration and so on. It's simple, you cannot register a player to your team if you don't provide LFP a player's contract. Remember the Neymar saga and the Brazilian getting no permission to play for PSG before all documents were approved by LFP?

That's what professional organisation is, but on the other hand Javier Tebas have been quite controversial in recent years with his remarks. I won't rule out he's just speculating to the press.

Omg...the disappointment of some when he signs the extension...

Messi >= Barca!

It's the same as Argentina though. What can he really achieve in such a mediocre team? He might carry Argentina to a World Cup and Barca to the odd trophy, but beyond that? Lose out to more ballon d'ors to Penaldo. Get blamed for the failures of his team mates, coaches and administrators and affect his legacy so he can waste the rest of his peak years.

If he stays go out and get him players who he can actually achieve stuff with.

Messidependencia at Argentina and Barca is extreme at this moment.
Messi will be scapegoated again if they fail. People underestimate the team factor in it and put everything on the individual. Good or bad.

Much the same way Messi is probably given too much credit in carrying a bunch of no hopers at Barca.

It is too extreme both ways and Messi like any player is open to criticism if doesnt perform in the biggest games but done recall anyone really blaming him for Barcelona not winning CL or league last year or Argentina failing to win trophies.

He's in his 30s now he should be able to take a bit more of a back seat while others emerge and pick up the slack. Like the likes of Isco and Asensio did last season for Ronaldo (while Modric and Kroos dominated the midfield) and his Portugal team mates stepped up at the Euros.

Instead he's far too overburdened as there's more and more reliance on him for club and country. Argentina have got no chance next year unless he has a Maradona 86 type tournament in every game, but Argentina were also a good team in 86, they're genuinely shit now. At Barca Neymar and Alves gone, Iniesta and Masch are really getting on and Suarez is playing like a player in his mid 30s. Barca are mediocre in midfield and attack and need and rely on Messi to be great in midfield and in attack.

Players have picked up the slack for both Argentina and Barcelona.

He is best player overall but many players have performed. Less so for Argentina recently.

Still Messi can be criticised if not peforming in certain games. Cant always just point to other players.

The way he got crucified after the last two copa america’s was unfair imo.
People in general only look at the end result and credit/destroy the best known player for it. With Messi its even more extreme since everyone expects maradona 86 in every match.
