the thing with Messi nowdays, if the opponent show any glimpse of fatigue, he comes alive and punish them for it. in the last 20 minutes Atletico's legs were cooked , and messi started firing those accelerations; one after one. I just wish he shoots instead of looking for neymar and suarez, there is no better finisher in the world, just be selfish.. When he has the ball at the edge of the box, i trust his leg more than neymar or suarez 1vs1 with the keeper.

Still i wish he helps us more in the building of the game, because in the second half we were toothless, we were incapable and flat. There where i want him to interfere and help us maintaining some possession and not just hide behind the opponent. Over all .. another day, another decisive performance by Leo.

Barçapocalypse NOW!
I don't know if it's true, or even if this make any difference, but according to Marca, these were Messi touches during the game... HOLY SHIT! Especially for a guy who doesn't even run... It's almost like he's turning into Xavi...

He is in GOAT form, we have to use this, it might be the last GOAT form from him

Nah..He will always be the best player in the team until the day he retires.Every season he keeps this amazing level if performance,i can't see him regressing significantly, unless he gets a few major injuries.

It's unbelievable just how good Messi is.

He is a better deep lying playmaker than both Xavi and Pirlo.
He is a better midfielder than Iniesta and Zidane.
He is a better winger than Robben and Ribbery.
He is a better striker than Ronaldo and Suarez.
He is better at free kicks than Beckham and Ronaldinho.

Throughout the history of football, various legends have spent their entire careers on honing a particular set of skills and through years of practice they have become masters of those skills. The thing with Messi though is that is a better than all those legends at their own disciplines.

Legends like Xavi, Ronaldo and Zidane have spent their entire careers on learning a particular aspect of football, whereas Messi has mastered all aspects simultaneously. He is better than any specialist player in any position. He has mastered football in its entirety.

He truly is a player of mythical proportions. It's hard to believe that he is actually real.

We should rest him and only sub him on if absolutely necesary. Suarez can run our attack eith Rafinha/Denis and Arda.

I doubt it'll happen so he'll have to be very careful. Perhaps even just walk the entire game and only make plays when he gets the ball.

Because I've no doubt he'll get booked the one time he tries to press and shows a bit of aggression. It's something else I've noticed lately. It takes other players 3-4 fouls for them to get booked while our players are shown the yellow card for their first offence, even if it is the slightest of fouls.

Mario Kempes on the Maradona vs. Messi comparison

Maradona is Maradona, that's indisputable, but he doesn't play anymore. He stopped playing a long time ago. Messi [still] runs and delights us.

You can't compare the two because they played in different eras, in different teams and with different teammates. We have to stop this.

They say Maradona is God, but there's only one God [points to the sky]!

On Messi not winning World Cup

When Diego won the World Cup in 1986, perhaps he had the luck that Messi has not had.

Diego had very good teammates and things went well. Messi has good teammates, too, but what happened is that Diego, with the Hand of God, went to the final -- and with the kick which the English players didn't give him when he went past a number of them and scored that goal.

So luck was on his side, too. They say that Messi lacks a World Cup? No! Why? [Alfredo] Di Stefano did not win a World Cup, neither did a lot of other players. It's stupid.
