You clearly didn't see the match.
On a counter he hit like 40 km/h at full speed, and then he provided a superb first-touch assist to one of his teammates who just tripped on himself in front of the goal.
That action alone is worth more than the whole first 45 minutes of Messi.
You can see mental focus, power, technique, attitude.
Messi is dead inside.

Exactly. Of course he has space when he is just waiting for counters vs Spain.. Argentina is trying to create something and dominate the possession. Ronaldo would do nothing with system like that. Ronaldo strengths are running fast straight and kicking the ball

Ronaldo plays in a completely different system with a different skill set. Messi is never gonna thrive under such a deprived team like Argentina, by the style they are playing he is gonna get suffocated with 3 to 4 men constantly marking him. To make it worse, Argentina players are physically slow and extremely short in stature compared to Iceland. Technically they are very very mediocre as well.
A penalty, a shit shot ending in a horrible mistake from a goalkeeper and a good free kick with De Gea being lazy and not moving..... and De Gea is supposed to be the best goalkeeper in the world. Ronaldo's free kick conversion rate is like 2%.
