might aswell have shut the thread down when they finished second and the draw was panned out.

4 proves Messi does whatever he wants, to his detriment. He didn't stick to any position he was played in and everyone adjusted to what he chose to do.

- When playing as a #10 against Iceland he dropped deeper into CM regions driving the ball in the first half and constantly appearing in the centre calling for the pass from his teammates nullifying anything they did from the wings, against a parked bus. Not smart.
- When playing as a forward against Croatia he sulked, because he likes having the ball at his feet, started dropping to the right, which only led him to giving the ball away.
- As a RW against Nigeria he was arguably at his best position and for the first time he appeared upfront making a run to a good pass over the top. Some really good one-twos with Higuain. What then? Quiet for the remainder of the game, because he strayed to #10 position, which was clogged up by Nigerians defending a favourable score and there was no winger to pass to on the right as a result of his decision, until Pavon came on and started making runs in behind the defence.

Messi is put in the position of the franchise leader. He's the GOAT, right? Of course he is always asked to approve a manager or a player. He approved of Sampaoli and for months on end it didn't work. What do you think AFA decision making process is? It's obviously the shallow "Does Messi like him?" type of thing, we're talking latinos. Should have known better.

Same with Barca. If he approves of Griezmann, Barto will go and get him as the highest priority. Messi does approve, but doesn't look for your next leaders that you desperately need. He doesn't know who would make the best next Puyol/Xavi/Mascherano. And he's the captain now so he's expected to contribute to these things.

I thought you are a better troll than somebody who believes in tabloid shit. Sadly much of the news about Argentina in this World Cup was media sensation. If Messi was pulling the strings his best friends Di Maria and Aguero would have played full 90 minutes in all 4 games in this World Cup.

Why would this Argentina be though? They won 7 out of 18 pts without Messi. Wouldn't even be here without him...

Point I made in replying to Jam is that, even if Messi won it without actually eclipsing Maradona in style, he would still be criticized. Would Messi not playing against Germany and Argentina somehow winning mean he is better player now?

Because neither you or I know anything about what happens in the Argentina dressing room and Barca board room and you are the one who cited those speculations of yours as hard facts. When I know nothing I choose to shut up.
