He was clearly better than before the break but he is still a bit clumsy. Begs the question why not just rest him for a few months.

It's not even about confidence anymore. He's finished. His pace is nowhere near what it needs to be for someone who relies on playing off the shoulder of a defender. It'd be okay if he can play a Benzema role, but he can't do that either. Such games just gloss over how bad he actually is.

I have to agree with all previous comments here. He still has the fire, luck and the predator skills, but the physical decline is real.

Maybe he really should have had surgery, maybe thats the problem, saw him grabbing his knee early in the game.

Not really, he shot it right at the keeper and it would've been saved if not for a kind deflection off a defender.
