My gripe with modern football

I miss the days of the first XI, or a team that picks itself. In an ideal world, a football side would have a first XI and the subs would be academy players.

The greatest example of this in modern times for me IMO was the Arsenal side of 03/04, but I also loved the constancy that ran through the Spurs side of last season. Compare this against Chelsea and their 38 players out on loan.

To some extent Barca operate a similar system, having MSN upfront, and bringing in Sandro, Rafinha etc to rotate. I just hate that players are now purely bought as investments for the future, or worse to stop other teams from having them.

i think people sometimes act nostalgic just for the sake of nostalgia .. Football is getting better each year and it's in a good place. that's my opinion

it's a free market, it's capitalism my freind, there is justice because nothing stops other teams from loaning their players too
