Barca Transfers and Rumors

When we sign players, especially if they cost more than 10-20m, we shouldnt really sign them based on the notion that he might be good in 2-3 years, just because they are young. We should expect them to perform at a high level early on. Like Gabriel Jesus or Umtiti.

Thats true, but I think both Martial and Frenkie de Jong would do just that if you are referring to them. If we can't get Coutinho I would gladly welcome de Jong and/or Houssem Aouar. Martial is currently underperforming due to Mourinho IMO, still think he is doing good also at the national team.

Its sad we missed out on Gabriel Jesus, only 29m.

The low price is probably due to his contract length. He will only have an year left next summer and from reports he doesn't seem very happy at Manchester. A player price isn't just determined by his price. I think he extends in the end though.

If this is the case then he is my first choice for attack

There's a clause in his contract where Man Utd can extend his contract for another year.

Fuaarck.

Both Griezmaan and Coutinho will be short term buys. One is 26 and the other 27. We should be looking at players between 22-25 years old.

26 and 27 aren't bad at all. We need to be looking to maximize this team's potential for success for the next 3-4 years while Messi can still lead us forward as the main man. Players aged 22-25 are either to unproven, expensive, or unwilling to leave their clubs.

We need to make one last push while we still have Busquets, Messi and Alba still in their primes. Griezmann and Coutinho are both realistic transfers and are more than young enough to help us win in this limited window we currently have. They've also got experience at top level clubs and would arrive as finished products that can step into our team and have an immediate impact.

We need to go all out now to get another CL while we still can. The rebuild is going to come in 3-4 years and it's going to be ugly regardless, we can focus on signing youngsters then.

Agree that we should be going all in for Messi’s final years. Just not sure how both Coutihno and Griezmann fit into the squad unless Suarez is sold.

Suarez should and must be sold. It's impossible to win the CL with the 2017 version of Suarez and with his 31st birthday fast approaching in January he's not getting any younger or better. Chances are few and far between in tight CL matches in the latter stages and starting a bottler with zero technical quality will only guarantee defeat.

Barcelona will never have as big of a chance at winning trophies than right now with Messi because of the beast he is. He's given the club so much, let's give him some players who can help him win more major trophies. We already have a core of young players. We need quality right now. Coutinho and Griezmann would still be able to provide that for at least 4 years.

It's possible to start rebuilding while challenging for trophies and trying to maximize Messi's last years.

You do it gradually. Loading the team with a bunch of kids right now would be ill-advised.

Our young core right now who could well be starters after Messi is gone includes ter Stegen, Umtiti, Semedo, Dembele. That's 4 out of 11 players. Already a good start.

This is also the reason why I don't want anyone like Martial(changed my mind). He really can be lazy and immature. We don't need that right now.

Can we even afford 300m+ for superstar signings while at the same time keeping high wage garbage players? Could we heading for bankruptcy with this strategy?

No kid should be signed. 17 year olds are for Barca B. The players who should be prioritized should perform at a high level from early on. Like the signings of Umtiti, Gabriel Jesus, Neymar, De Bruyne, Sane etc.
