Barca Transfers and Rumors

Why look at Willian? Surely Douglas Costa will be available for the same price?

Aren't Bayern keen on offloading Vidal for 30 million? Get him instead of buying Thiago.

Also Utd want to buy Maguire for 65 million while Mina who is probably as good if not better can't be sold for 30 million.

Maguire comes off of a very good season at one of best leagues in world and a good world cup. While he is homegrown which has more pull for EPL teams.

Mina has not done the same bar the WC part so would not expect teams to be wanting to pay anywhere near the same fee for Mina at this moment.

Be surprised if they even get Maguire for 65m.

EPL is an internal bubble when it comes to transfers. All teams are rich so basically almost every decent-to-good player is grossly overpriced. It's part of the reason why they are poor for a decade almost, even though the money increased consistently.

Second best league in world not quite poor and the reason he would be more expensive is that Maguire has proven more at a higher level and is homegrown.

Sure, second best league in the world. I've said it myself that EPL is a top league. But it can't be denied that a lot of players in that league that go for big money are vastly overpriced. We got Umtiti for what? 25-30m. And he's better than Stones and this Maguire put together. Stones and Maguire (if the deal goes through) are going to cost a combined 130m. That's crazy.

Willian is basically a better version of Paulinho but it's another player about to turn 30.

He is much better than paulinho and more of a forward than midfielder. He is quick, can dribble, more creative, good shot and unlike paulinho he plays like a proper Brazilian. Also 30 is not that old nowadays. As long as you get 3 or four years out of him 70 million is worth it. They are not looking to make money back on him anyway

Willian would improve the squad and 70 million isn't crazy money anymore. He has pace, dribbling ability, scores goals in big games and assists. 30 isn't very old these days and who cares about resale value as I said it's not that much anymore

People forget that Villa was bought as an older player as well who was expensive. Oh and did play well for 1-2 years only and then got shipped, Barca didn't see money for him either. His salary wasn't small either, but would anyone say it was a bad transfer?

Yes it is a simple matter of inflation.

The product remains the same yet costs a lot more because people have more money.

Villa was one the best strikers in the world at the time and was more than a year younger than Willian when we bought him. He should have been bought the year before instead of Zlatan.

As you say he played well, but declined rapidly after his broken leg, which incidentally was when he turned 30.

80m for a player who is mediocre, and not in the same league as the likes of DV, and who will likely start declining very soon is insane

Do you watch any Chelsea premier league games? Willian is not mediocre. He is a very good player and is certainly an improvement on dembele at the moment. Hopefully dembele will prove me wrong this season but at the moment willian is much better. I can't think of another player like willian you could get for 70 million which is the new 30 million
