Would only loan him if it means Arthur coming this summer, otherwise what's the point? Means we'd have to spend money that could otherwise be spent on priority positions such as mid, because no way can we rely on just Vermaelen as back up given his injury history.

Precisely. Would surely include a purchase option, which would inevitably be deducted from outstanding payments of the Coutinho deal- if activated.

IF he wants a future at Barca he should get a 2 yr loan in la liga so he only needs .5 years to receive the passport

Even if Arthur doesn't join during summer he will still join during winter so that still means we need to get rid of one non EU player and between Coutinho, Paulinho and Mina it should be obvious who that will be.

We will probably buy another CB then, and when Mina returns he can take the spot of Vermaelen if Cou got his passport.

A loan to a la liga team should also be good for him anyway. I mean all that talk about Valverde aside his situation would've been tough anyway and even after pre season that probably wont change so adapting to the league at a club where he can be a starter should help him a lot more than one game every 3 weeks at Barca.

It is quite easy to pull him out of his position, but that should not be surprising because of the way they defend in Brazil. Open play and not so much discipline. However, he is slow, let us be honest, unless he has something that cannot be found in other players, he should be at least be loaned.

I appreciate his character, but we cannot afford to have him at this point.
