Robert Fernandez

Robert still failed at his job. His midfield target was Verratti and then Coutinho when it got too late.

You guys keep making excuses for him when he failed at his #1 priority.

Neither of Robert or Pep Segura deserves to remain after the mess this summer. We should hire a professional for once.

You cannot keep flopping one summer after the other and keep your job. The stakes are high when it comes to squad planning for a club like Barca.

I would say no1 priority was RB and so far it look like he delivered.
But yeah, his biggest weakness is midfield signing

Yeah forgot about RB.

Equally important IMO. Having a proper RB helps a lot, but even Semedo at times is stifled by Rakitic's stupid, slow backpasses and sideways passing which only goes one side....to the left.....

If he starts again tomorrow(which I hope he doesn't), notice how he just doesn't want to pass to an open Semedo and Roberto/Deulofeu/Whoever the RW is.

This makes it even harder for us.

Apparently, he was seen in Leverkusen today at their match against Wolfsburg. Who is he following?

He probably doesn't even know that.

Found this on Twitter:
Robert y Urbano están en Alemania viendo el Leverkusen-Wolfsburgo para espiar a los extremos Brandt, Bailey y el central Tah.

Those arent exactly exciting targets.

Jasper and Semedo wasn't underwhelming, probably neither is Dembele

Starting GK for Ajax as backup, most talented RB available and the obvious choice to replace Neymar.

What a genius.

Guy's incompetent. Little room for mistake at a club like Barcelona and he's had plenty already.

Dembele wasn't the most obvious replacement for Neymar, in fact he is a bit weird considering he is more of RW than LW, and there was plenty of others that was wanted. It seemed obvious because we went for him and we trie to get him year before.
Scouting to get most talented RB is great job, and being able to get Ajax and Netherlands starting GK to be our back up GK is good job.
So yes those are good signings no matter how you goes around it.

Depends on the perspective. From an image perspective, if you wanted to replace the South American "N" of MSN with another highly popular and marketable player then Dybala was the obvious choice. From a footballing perspective, if you want someone that has the potential to be as good as Neymar and offers many of the same qualities and profile then Dembele is obvious.

If Robert did choose Dembele over Dybala (and wasn't forced onto it like Bellerin to Semedo) then he made the right choice. It's only one amongst a litany of wildly bad decisions, but it is one nonetheless.

Don't think you're right about Semedo. See, when asked about Bellerin, Robert said he doesn't like paying for former Barca players.

I never really seen Bellerin as a Robert signing tbh. Bellerin seemed like it was one of those that was pushed by other sporting department staff and probably even Board members. I always thought the likes of Semedo,Cancelo,Sidibé etc seem to be more of his style.

Can be said for last year, we were linked with the Usual Marquinhos,Laporte,John Stones etc in regards to CB rumors but instead he went with Umtiti. Who had a great season for Lyon but flew a bit under the radar compared to the well known young CB's out there.

Robert isn't perfect by any means but it seems easy to tell what kind of players he recommends and follows.

So far he's signed 2 players that turned out to be good enough to be starters for Barcelona - Umtiti and Semedo. If Dembele makes it, that'll be 3 in 2 seasons (all 3 young too) and that's a good work.

Robert failed with backup options. Gomes, Paco.. And yes, he failed to get that midfielder.
