Big anime guy here, too. Right now, I'm watching K-On (troll anime - it's bad, but I have to watch it for some reason) and Eden of the East (AMAZING IMO). I'll be watching the new Fullmetal Alchemist once the manga chapters start.

The modern anime I recommend:
Full Metal Panic series (ALL OF IT)
Fullmetal Alchemist (1st season)
SUZUMIYA HARUHI (I guess I'm a Haruhi fanboi XD)
Clannad
Code Geass (became ridiculous IMO -- didn't like it that much... -- ROLLO FAIL OMG)
Death Note (Same as Code Geass)
Gurren Lagann
Cowboy Bebop (not modern, but w/e)
Samurai Champloo (epic second half is epic)
Eden of the East (The series will finish off with a huge movie yay)
Minami-ke series
NHK ni Youkoso

One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach aren't my type of anime. Ick....

Valon, if you want to feel like ****, finish Eva. I had clinical depression for a week from that...

IMO, GTO had a much better manga than anime....

Valon, ic you recommend Black Cat... I wasn't impressed IMO.

I saw all the ones you mentioned except Eden of the East veryfatchocobo.

I agree that Code Geass get's a tad boring at the end like Death Note but it was still epic. I liked Black Cat... I'm pretty sure you've seen Blood+ but if you haven't do it.

I'll give it a try to Eden tonight since I'm not yet into Innocent Venus... And I'll finish Evangelion soon I guess but really dude that anime is really hardcore. '-'

Haruhi was awesome, do you know that there's a second season that started?

I wasn't a DBZ fan. All I remember from that was constant staring at each other. When the action started, the credits went on.

I watched the original Dragon Ball, that was good, once it started with big Goku it kinda went to be boring. I used to watch Bleach and I'll finish watching one day because I watched like 205 episodes and I'd feel like I wasted my time if I don't finish it. I dropped Naruto when my favorite character died in the manga,

I only watched the 1st ep of Blood+. Horror anime right? <_<

The art in Eden is spot-on.... They have every building correct in DC and Tokyo... It's amazing.

It's not really a second season of Haruhi. The reasons why KyoAni didn't do the eps in chronological order in the 1st airing are because they're epic trolls (in a good way for Haruhi) and they skipped out those eps that are now currently airing (for more ratings I guess; Bamboo Rhapsody or w/e already aired, the rest start June 18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). The second airing is chronological now, in the way the novel did the story. I bet there will be a real second season, someday............. if they don't troll.... like with K-On....

Don't you agree that FMP must have another season?!!!! KyoAni is trolling like no other!!

I haven't watched K-On but I have a friend that really likes it although I'm still not planing to watch it. I'd say another season for FMP would be fantastic... at the moment I'm watching for 3rd season of Nodame Contabile though.
