Only half of current Barca squad are native spanish speakers so it would be only natural that english on at least rudimentary level is/was common.

Horatio

You're welcome
To this day I still don't understand why no lipreader has tried to figure out what Messi says when arguing with non-Spanish speaking players in CL. Should be a video dedicated to it.

Stats for his season so far:

In CL he has played 320 mins, scored twice and made 1 assist. That's a goal scored/assisted every 106,7 minutes. 1 MOTM-award.

In La Liga he has played 809 mins combined, scored 6 goals and assisted for another 3 goals. That's a goal scored/assisted every 89,8 minutes. 2 MOTM-awards.

Stats for his season so far (according to SPORT and Mundo Deportivo:

He has been late for training twice over the last 3 weeks. 27 Frontpage-cover-awards.

He has been sold off to Arsenal, due to his familiarity with Aubameyang, seven times over the last couple of months.

He apparently isn't catalan?! <-- Obvious fake news. More astounding is the fact that this guy isn't even brazilian? WTF Barto. I mean WTF, hombre. Where's the 'Mes que un club' in that, man? Our values gone down the drains. First we SELL off a BRAZILIAN player to China and that's not even the kicker. The guy has fucing INHO in his name? What is happening to this club. Then we decide to get a NOT-brazilian player with a NOT-INHO name. And he's french. Nuff said.

No it wouldn't. The world doesn't revolve around English
Actually it kinda does. This forum is good example.
Makes no sense for it to be English when you're playing in Spain and most of the foreigners speak a fellow Romance language.
Well, yeah. Spanish must be closer to other southern languages. I would imagine that with a complete foreigner from, say, germany, they would still communicate in english for the first time at least. It's just that english is so easy to learn and popular that it makes sense.

There's always been a Spanish speaking culture at the club.

Since the percentage of non-speakers we buy is so low, it's easier for them to learn Spanish (which is an easy language to learn) than the others English.

Unless the core of our squad drastically changes, Spanish will always be the main language. The players who'll become the future core already know Spanish or will learn it, and same with the next generation.
For example PSG didn't have that slow transition. They bought players from all around the world and there was no other choice than English.

Pique, Busquets, Denis,Suarez,Messi,Rafinha,Samper,Alba,Munir,Roberto,Alena,Vidal are all native speakers, with Rakitic,Lenglet,Coutinho,Arthur all speaks the language fluently before they have arrived.
Sure there is probably some English spoked here and there, but Spanish is necessary and this has been the case for many top clubs actually, same for RM, Bayern etc.
If Ousmane doesn't speak the language at all till now it is probably normal if the tabloids complain, this was the 1st thing that caused the problems between Pep & Hleb, and Spanish shouldn't be difficult to learn for native French speaker.
If he speaks it fairly moderate but isn't ready yet to speak it in public (in front of media) then media are idiots

Actually it kinda does. This forum is good example.

Actually, plenty of people here learned Spanish and share spanish links just because we are fan of a certain club.
You would actually be surprised that English isn't spoken that much worldwide as you would think.
