11 - Ousmane Dembélé - V1

What makes Griezmann automatically undroppable? For all we know EV will make major changes that involve a more favorable set up for OD. What we do know is EV had a rapidly declining midfield and needed to play a certain style to get us the results. If we tried to play high octane 4-3-3 with this line up (read play Dembele where he'd thrive) we would not have won a double. With more options, I don't buy the get Dembele out of set up to sacrifice Suarez rumors one bit.

Why would the club talk to other teams about Dembele if that was the case?

Looking at the minutes played and his output:

Dembele has played cca 1000 minutes of football for Barca. He has 4 goals and 6 assists.

Looking at Leo's minutes (as one of our most played players: cca 3700).

Now, let's say that Dembouz played cca 3000 minutes. He would have 12 goals and 18! assists. Fucking 18 assists at that rate. If this doesn't scream potential, I don't know what does.

"Showing nothing"

A week ago OD created the first goal and scored two. Scored an important goal against Chelsea, had a man of the match performance against Malaga, and so on. He has performed in almost every game he's started.

Some people here are just blinded by hatred. lol

2009/2010 season:

Messi 53 matches, 47 goals
Pedro 50 matches, 23 goals
Ibrahimovic 45 matches, 21 goals
Bojan 36 matches, 12 goals
Henry 32 matches, 4 goals

So, Ibra was tied on the 2nd place with Pedro (roughly) in terms of goals per appearances.
Yet, he was shipped away because he wasn't a good fit.

Nobody is saying that Dembele doesn't have potential.
Or that he won't be a good player.
Or that he can't create magic.

But it seems that both EV and the board would rather return money invested in him (in 2018 or 2019) and try with someone else who could be closer to our current (or future) style.

You guys can whine all you want, but Suarez will be a starter in the next season surely.
We just won a double with Messi-Suarez duo, and that is all the board is asking for.

So, we'll just play:
Suarez
Messi
Coutinho-Rakitic-Busquets-Griezmann

With Dembele entering as a sub.
Or Paulinho/Denis playing some matches.
If Arthur will get some minutes later in the season, then it will be even too crowded in the middle for EV.

Griezmann or Coutinho will play as a winger in 442 instead of Dembele.
If we'll play 433, EV will play Griezmann-Messi-Suarez.
Or even Coutinho on the left instead of someone.

So, if we want to be realistic and not too emotional, Dembele will very likely be a sub in the next season and he will play equally as in this season or even less.
And unless if he'll explode (with limited playing time), the board will rate his season as average and not worth 150M investment.

And you can tell what you want, but the end of the day, we didn't buy a 150M guy to start to be a key player in his 5th season at the club.
The club wants wonders right now.
Yet, a coach doesn't like his style.
Plus, we have just bought another guy (Griezmann) who will play at Dembele's position more or less.

Nobody has a crystal ball.
Dembele could explode in the next season and turns into a new Messi, who knows?
But if he'll play like he played in the last 2 Months, that probably won't be good enough for the board.

Ok, but you would keep playing Suarez with his current form (which was also his form during most of the season). We need to start rebuilding and that means shipping Suarez away, while we can still get some money for him and before he turns into a donkey for 100% of the time. Sadly, our board doesn't realise that.

Every striker that plays next to Messi would benefit from him, greatly. I just think loaning out a 21 year old player, who wants to prove himself in favour for 31 year old Suarez (who has the same amount of CL goals this season as Dembele and is a far bigger defensive liability) is very, very stupid.

It is not the case that every striker or attacking player benefits from playing with Messi though.

They have to give up more for their game than would at just about any other club.

Dembele has not looked great as a 'team' player but has looked good more on an individual level.

Exactly. That's showing the lack of playing with the team. Even Coutinho has just started to settle in. Every match they play they look more as a part of the team. That's why I think he should have a whole season with the team, before we even start thinking of loaning him out.

Loaing him is crazy.

Not a fan of selling him but if it meant strengthening midfield or RB for example could be for the better.

Dont think he will leave anyway and hope he keeps developing.
