15 - Andreas Christensen

Loan + Option to buy for 40-50M, is better than paying 75M straight up for De ligt.

Solves the short term problem in case if we don't make it permanent, and if he turns good, we get a decent CB at decent price.

Don't know how good it is for Chelsea though.

And if he doesn't we probably lose out on the best CB option in the market that's displayed leadership at such a young age and doesn't get boggled down by a mistake or the pressure of a big competition.

The second best option is probably Pavard who's possibly already joining Bayern in January.

The third best option would be Upamecano or anyone like that that are not as good as MDL or Pavard, but will cost as much as MDL lol.

Besides, we don't need a decent CB. We need someone that can push to be a starter right away, or at least got the talent and mental fortitude for it.

50M is good enough for him, considering that he hasn't even played much. Plus, there is a big chance his value may even deteriorate.

Christensen & his family would also favor us in case if we are interested. Sarri doesn't rate him highly & could use that money to get a CB of his choice.

It isn't that far fetched as it seems. But its all talk, because there hasn't been any proof of us being interested.

Who are they CB options? If they don't have enough options, they'll try to keep Christensen. No?

Depends on what you call proof. Both Mundo and Sport have been reporting about us being interested and even submitting a formal loan offer. Not that those are reliable sources, but it's a popular topic.

They were interested in Rugani last year, as well as Alessio Romagnoli.

Sarri doesn't prefer Christensen, even without known options its clear Christensen will leave till Sarri is here, either on loan or on permanent basis. So, they are definitely looking in the market for a CB.

Juve are interested in De Ligt, and due to which Rugani might be on the move. So, its domino effect basically.

Do you think De Ligt's future will become clear by the summer?

Short term (6 months) loan would be perfect and than in summer go for De Ligt. I don't like him at all but as a backup for half a year he is OK.

According to Sport we are in contact with Chelsea about Christensen. We're offering 3M loan fee until the end of the season with a buy option higher than 40M. Deal is complicated though because Chelsea doesn't want to permanently give up on him.

Why we need to buy him? 40 mil sounds like a bad deal anyway. (Mina and Digne) were sold for cheaper and they are starters for their club.

Nothing wrong having a buy option if he'd play well for us and we'd decide to buy him in summer in case we wouldn't get De Ligt. 40M is not that much in todays market.

We're getting Murillo so this is irrelevant now anwyay.

He'd be a great second new CB of the summer (for free of course), since we need two new in an ideal world anyway, but we still need to actually buy a world class CB, and get rid of Pique (retire/MLS), Lenglet (sell him for 20M), Umtiti (release) and possibly Mingueza, although I don't mind the last one staying as the 4th/5th CB option for depth. A true world class CB (De Ligt, if we can afford him) or at least a great young talent (someone like Gvardiol would be pretty nice) to partner up with Araujo, Garcia and Christensen as backups, and Mingueza as the 5th option, if he wants, otherwise sell him too, even though we wouldn't get more than 10M for him anyway, so he might as well stays.

I'd still like Azpi too, but for backup RB more (since we're selling Dest, hopefully releasing Roberto and I don't think Alves should play beyond the summer: in a perfect RB world get in Mazraoui for free, then Azpi also for free as the backup, while Alves can join Xavi's coaching team if he wants) or as the RCB if we play 3 at the back.
