Dele Alli

Wonder why Pochettino doesn't take him out of the firing line. From what Spurs fans have been saying he's been in pretty bad form for most of the season, and to make matters worse if the Spurs are losing and aren't any threat in scoring he clearly gets mad so easily and starts to foul over and over again.

Dude is young but I'm seriously surprised Poch hasn't done anything to get a handle on the situation.

Because he's the darling of the English press that have led them to believe this guy is the best thing since sliced bread. If he drops him, he'll face the backlash from them and eventually his own fans.

Dele Alli will always be invisible until Tottenham have a lead and there's big spaces for him to exploit. He scores goals and assists but it's usually not crucial goals against a motivated defense.

It's a waste that he got the number 10 position when Eriksen is a natural 10.

Rubbish he was one of the best players yesterday from the first whistle and has been often for Spurs.

Does anyone even want Alli anymore? He's average.

He's neither average nor top class. Opinions of him seem to be fluctuating along with his form, but people need to remember that he's 21 and development is never a straight line. If someone said that Sterling would be City's top scorer and joint third in the league last year we'd think they'd escaped from some sort of mental institution...

It's not rubbish. Dele Alli is basically playing as a forward but he's only scored the leading goal 2 times in 20 Premier League matches this season. He needs space to be effective, but that space is mostly given when the match is already won, so his goals are mostly useless. There are exceptions, the Real Madrid matches for instance.

It's not rubbish. He's only scored the leading goal 2 times in 20 Premier League matches this season. The tactical exception would be against teams that are offensive themselves and therefore gives him a lot of space to operate.

That is irrelevant as with a player like Harry Kane being focal point would expect him to score the first goal majority of time and even then it is not all about scoring goals.

He is very good in tight areas.

Son has been more of the forward for a while now and Alli was involved with almost everything good Spurs did yesterday before the first goal and soton did not open up at 1-0. They were still sitting deep when Alli carved them open for 2-0. Nor did he have acres of space for his goal.

- When compared to players of his age group with similar levels of hype: Lemar, Asensio, Guedes, Dembele, Sane, and Werner, for example, he comes away looking quite average.

- Have opinions on Sterling outside of England changed much?

Probably not much changed on Sterling when clueless folk claim he is on level of likes of Lo Celso.

Sterling is a very good player and proving it.

Alli is a great player. Been a bit inconsistent at times this season but not average compared to that lot.

- Why are you comparing a CM to a winger? Anyhow, compared to class players, Sterling isn't anything special. Sane is far and away the better player of the two.

- Alli isn't anywhere close to being a great player. That, if anything, is rubbish.
