That said, I don't get it why Chevorlet is spending so much money sponsoring Manchester United every year while we can't find someone who can do the same. Manchester United perhaps has wider fanbase around the world geographically but we should be on on par with them since we have the best player in the world Messi.

The guy that negociated the deal between United and Chevrolet was fired by the carmaker when they realized what a bad deal they got out of it, United will never ever again get a deal like that one, it was the heist of the century.

I think our next deal will be on par with Madrid.

If Rakuten doesn't extend we should hear rumblings starting in 2020 about the next sponsorship

We ranked 3rd in the Brand Finance's most valuable football brands 2019 ranking, behind Real Madrid and Manchester United. Not too surprising but it goes to show again how much we are lagging behind Real Madrid, Bayern and Manchester United when it comes to commercial revenues (including sponsorship and jerseys and other merchandise sales).

Full report can be accessed here: https://brandfinance.com/images/upload/football_50_free.pdf

We slid to the 4th place in terms of enterprise value measured by KMPG, behind Real Madrid, Manchester City and Bayern. We are doing this bad with Messi here, imagine what will happen after he leaves.

Full report: https://www.footballbenchmark.com/d...der Embargo until 00_01 CET 28th May 2019.pdf

- Staff costs to revenue ratio: 81%. 20-30 percentage points higher than peers.
- Lower profitability than peers.
- Lower stadium utilization rate.
- Declining Enterprise Value over the past 3 years. The only club to do so!!!

Pathetic.

Behind Real Madrid, who got shafted in all competitions this season.

Meme que un Club.

Even though this came out just a few days ago it is measuring result as of the end of the 17/18 season. This season we should be remarkably better in terms of revenue since all three sources of revenue saw a bump: (1) broadcast and prize money soared because we advanced to the CL semi-final and because all the other Spanish teams had been eliminated (2) match day revenue should be higher as our attendance this season is better than last season's with quite a few games with over 90000 in attendance and (3) the new Nike deal kicked in this season, among other things so the sponsorship and merchandise portion should see a decent increase as well. In the end we should be able to keep up with Real Madrid and Manchester United, if not leading.

In the long term things are not looking that great. As I said before, the area where we are really lagging behind the other European powerhouses is sponsorship/merchandise portion of the revenue, with us consistently performing behind ManU, Real Madrid and Bayern. Don't know why we can't do better attracting sponsors with Messi here and can't imagine what it will be when he leaves.

I agree. About 250m per season that is way less than I thought. I was thinking of something around 600m, to be honest.

Good catch, even if Spain's tax rate was at 50% it would only make the total first team wage expense around 250m and since our total staff cost is at 558m according to KPMG (81% of the total revenue).

What I still don't know is if the total staff cost includes other wage-related expenses such as salaries paid to our other sports teams (women's football, men's basketball, handball, futsal, roller hockey etc.) and general club staff members.

Or maybe bonuses? I know that FDJ will get around 4m in bonuses according to some reports but not sure about the other players + Valverde's 12m :)
