It is how team of the year has always been for almost every votes except for the UEFA.com
That is how team of the year operates .the best players in certain lines .not the best in each position
It has its pros and cons tbf .for example making it by position with such variety in tactics could be unfair to many players as putting them in a certain position will be ambiguous .are they CM?AM?DM? etc . it could also split votes for one player in many positions .may hinder people voting for a player because they don't think he is actually a player of that position

They would have considered one of Kroos or Modric as DM and he would still end above Busquets so same result
If you look at the format you are saying for example .the results based on votes will be like this
Neuer
Alves-T.Silva-Ramos-Marcelo
Modric or Kroos as DM and Iniesta and Pogba as CM/AM
Messi,Cr7 & Suarez .
Not a big change IMO

Theoretically, a player who shows the biggest gap between himself and the second-best in his position doesn't even have to be among the greatest players (in general). Just take a look at freaking fullbacks.

This is claiming the fifa balon d'Or will be separated, back to how it was in the past. It seems infantino prefers it that way.

Messi would get Baloon d'or because it is voted by media who actually watch games, and Fifa award would go to CR because coaches and captains would vote for trophies and for those who they like more.

I'm not so sure about that.

Suddenly you got Hermel whose a Madridista as France's designed journalist and similar people in other countries.

Do we put 1 DM, 2 DMs, or 3 DMs Simeone style?
Or 0 DMs like Real Madrid had in the past (kroos,modric) or Croatian NT (modric, Rakitic)

Some players have played both CM, DM and even CAM

I think their system removes all their bias
The best 4 defenders, midfielders, attackers fullstop
