Sergio Busquets

4-2-3-1 have wingers that often play as inside forwards with a CAM while Valverde's 4-4-2 is with two deep midfielders and two players playing a role resembling that of a wide midfielder.

The wide players in the 4-2-3-1 would be further forward and would have to contribute a lot more defensively.

It's an interesting setup, but pushes Arthur out of the starting lineup and puts a lot of emphasis on Dembele and Coutinho/Malcom to contribute more defensively by tracking back.

The only difference I see it is do we play with 1 or 2 wingers.
Last year, when Paulinho was playing it was 442 but Dembele playing it was 4231 (and people still called it 442)
This year if you put Vidal/Raki on right side we call it 442, you put Dembele (with Coutinho on left) and it is 4231

4231 cannot work agaisnt against tough opposition. A 2 man midfield isn't defensively sound and do you really want to drop Arthur?

Actually I thought he was one of our worst players today.

.

Busqs suffers more than anyone when he’s covered ( joke) by Rakitic...
Busqs is still the focal point and he’s shown recently that he’s still the best around. He just needs a little protection. It’s a pity we couldn’t have got Frankie in January.. .. that extra bit of energy /speed / desire will extend Busqs Barca career a few years

Busquets continues to be a liability.
We have been playing without a proper DM for years now.
I hope dejong can take that place b.v we need someone strong there.
This is what happens when you are more concerned with a player being Catalan than.an.actual good player.
If this guy were Peruvian, he would have been out 3 years ago

His problem is he's slow and gets caught napping. When he opposition press with intensity Busquets has problems. He also plays too often he needs more rest.

Shaky first 20 minutes for Busquets.

It's the third time in 3 weeks he's been pick-pocketed from his back thinking he's got more time on the ball than what was the case.

But once he fine tuned his spatial awareness he got on just fine and went on to have a very very good second half, especially defensively.

Him and Rakitić were bang average tonight. Not bad, but not outstanding.

Most memorable moment from him? Him and Pique outrunning everyone during the counter for the 4th goal.
