The incompetent clowns had no other option.

Laporta is guaranteed a vote from my part already. I have no doubt that he will be reelected the second he officially announces his election campaign.

The best news this year so far.

With a good coach and management in general we will be back to best again. We have a good enough squad to form up a team fighting on all fronts and that is causing a feeling of fear in the opponent...We will be able to make transfers half a year after the elections though.

It isn't just down to having a good manager, our squad isn't very good at all. Our defence isn't great, our midfield isn't great.... but yeah, we have potential amazing attack. Not to mention, we're losing players in the summer, which we can't replace. We can't exactly expect the youngsters from the B team to step in and take the world by storm. Also, even if we get to January, most likely the players we're going for won't be able to play for us in the Champions League till the season after. And January is the worst time to buy players anyway, because prices go up because teams don't like losing their best players at that time.

Yeah, it's great we're getting elections to get a new board in, but it's not going to instantly fix the problems with the squad and the management.

The midfield is fine, if Vermalaen was fit the defence would be acceptable. The entire team have been poor for 3 seasons because we've had a chain of coaches who have no idea what they are doing.

Not quite sure i agree with the midfield being fine. Being a possession based club, the midfield is absolutely key to our success, and generally, would be our strongest suit. It just so happens it is currently our weakest. When you have 70% possession, are playing well and have a good coach, you can get away with having an okayish defence, but our current midfield is definitely an issue. When we get a new coach, I am certain he will be able to get more out of this midfield than we have managed to over the last couple of seasons, but enough to win us major silverware? Maybe not. I'd be okay with us not winning trophies though, as long as we are moving in the right direction.

The midefield is not fine it is arguably the biggest weakness in the squad.

Rakitic/Rafinha/Roberto etc are just not the top level you need at Barca. Maybe Rakitic is good enough to be a squad player and thats it.

Because those players are not good enough it means the club are falling back on Xavi/Iniesta who can seemingly only play one way that other teams learned to counter years ago. Even then both Xavi and Iniesta have declined.

The group of Barca midfielders is nowhere near what there is at the other top clubs.

Why don't we play a 4231. It allows messi to be behind suarez, and neymar in his favourite position on the left. Rakitic can play and develop as the controlling playmaker beside busquets. the formation is stable and organised, but is flexible enough to play Barca style football.

I bet our midfield would improve if we played like that, the midfield lacks quality in depth but a simple reorganisation will improve it a lot. We still have wc players in the midfield that can control a game.

I hope the new coach will try out that system.

Changing the president or the board or the coach will not bring Barca back to where it was a few years ago. That would take a time machine.

There is no younger Xavi the team can go out and get, anywhere. Iniesta still has mad skills, but he is just not having the effect on games he was a couple years ago, for whatever reason. Busquets has also faded. The newer options in midfield have not beaten old the veterans.

The current batch of forwards seems to be more talented than even in the best Barca years, but their collective output is not yet where it should be. Particularly troubling is their continued tendancy to get shut out too often.

The offensive production from the fullbacks is down. The CBs have been good, as has the goalkeeping.

Depth has not been the strength it has been in the glory years, though there are excellent options at keeper, CB and DM.

This is still looking like a very good team for the next few years, there should be some titles. But nothing like the best years under Pep, when an incredible batch of players were in their prime at the same time.

klc is almsot the only one left thinking the defence and mid is good enough, maybe linetty.

Its not only about the board and coach. Its the players aswell that arent high enough standard. High enough at another club maybe, but not for Barcelonas type of play.
Mascherano, and arguably Bartra are our best 2 backs, and thats not good when when Mashe isnt even a CB.
An aging Iniesta, and retirement ready Xavi, is still our best midfield. Thats not good at all when the midfield was our weakest link for the last 2-3 years.
Last couple of years Iniesta have saved the midfield, but now even he is declining rapidly.
Yes we won CL with Busi once, but that was just becouse of all our players beeing in their prime and Xavi/Iniesta + Messi owning everyone on the midfield.
We woulda needed established players from the top teams in leagues or the best talents, not midleague Spanish teams or players at the end of their careers.
The midfield is where we need the best players. Its the most important part of the team with possesion football.
