This was the 23 man shortlist for 2014, I don't think it's inferior to 1998. Suarez also didn't make it for non-footballing reasons despite easily being the third best player in the world during 2013-14 season.

Not to mention the insanity of having Di Maria on the freakin shortlist, and the likes of Yaya, Gotze and Ibra who did nothing this season!

It's 2014 Ballon d'Or list, in alphabetical order. Not 2015.
