Ruiz has scored two goals for Spain U18 against Italy in final of the Mediterranean Games. It's currently 2-2 with around 5 minutes to go. He's also a top scorer of the tournament with 6 goals so far.

Edit: And he has scored a winning goal in 95th minute.

He is actually unique. Have not seen such talent in a while and definitely not a RB. Should do absolutely our best to keep and improve him.

Miranda, Morey, Abel, Busquets and Puig are first team players in less than two years.

Long way to go for any of them to become first team players but agree and have said before think this is best young group of players moving to B team maybe ever.

^ I agree. Exciting times might be ahead. Not that it guarantees anything, but most of our talents are well established at international youth level. That means a lot.

In the (likely) case that we don't sign any strikers this summer, I think Ruiz is absolutely worth bringing up for most of the preseason. And, if he shows maturity there, some CDR callups and regular training for the first team should be in order like Aleña had. Same goes for Mateu Morey. Both look to be absolutely standout and well rounded players.

It'd be a total waste to give those preseason minutes to Paco IMO, seniority be damned. That is the time to truly experiment with the team and see how things could work out moving forward, so you have to think with a long term perspective. In an ideal team you want your backups to be young players growing into the role, which is what Ruiz could do. Paco is really not useful for us now or in the future. He's on a bad contract too, and deadweight on the level of Gomes. Ruiz could genuinely be something great in the future, much more worth the investment in development/playing time.

He's flown pretty much completely under the radar and wasn't a standout performer by any means during pre-season, but I think it says something that behind only the two obvious favorites in Miranda and Puig, Abel had the most preseason minutes of any Barca B player. Will be interesting to see his continued development. Him not being an instant star coming from his Juvenil days could be a positive for him in this case, if he can start to produce for the B team.
