Not much of an argument. Marlon is playing well for the first team but he may not be ready anyways because... reasons.

Marlon was far from the best performer for the B team but when played with the first team squad out of necessity he has performed. Now imagine how players who are in the top 1-2 performers for Barca B would do if afforded the same opportunity?

Marlon has played two games and even then it has no relation to Alena at all.

Gumbau has been one of the better B team players this year. That doesnt mean call him up just because Marlon is doing well despite taking time to settle in B team.

Doesnt mean call up Perea of MSN get injured either.

Good on Marlon for stepping up well but cant draw conclusions based on other players from it.

Marlon's performances for the first team indicate he is good enough for at least minutes against middle to bottom tier La Liga sides. It may not have anything to do with Alena himself but you said Marlon might not be ready based on his two games.

Gumbau is 22 and only now starting to play well with the B team. Logically speaking giving him a chance could make sense if it wasn't for the fact that he's proven not to be quality when called up, something that cannot be said for Alena, who is 3 years younger and is a long time wonderkid of the academy that we haven't seen in quite some time.

Calling Perea up if MSN gets injured would only make sense if Paco and Rafinha were also both injured. And if such a scenario were to occur he damn well should be called up at some point just to see if the spaghetti sticks, because we're screwed either way.

My point is Marlon stepping up for the first team when he's outperformed by the likes of Alena and the "average" Palencia week in and week out when playing for the B team is a good indication that other players on that team could make the step up as well if given the chance. You'd probably have argued against the very thought of Marlon getting any minutes against either one of Villareal or Las Palmas if Mathieu was fit but he did get those minutes and he did well when the opportunity presented itself. It's not so far outside of the realm of possibilities that there are other players on our B team who could do the same.

Marlon having a poorer start for B teams means nothing in relation to the other players and them stepping up. He has played at a higher level in Brazil and has been adapting.

Has no relation to other players in B teams being good enough any more than him coming in and being shit would have been a reflection on any of them either.

You are just making out Marlon has been shit for B team anyway when he hasnt he had a poor spell for a while at start then played well since they missed him big time at weekend.

Marlon has both physical strength, age and experience on his side. Eibar and Las Palmas were probably not the best teams he has ever faced.
Alena lacks all of that,he is 19 years old who is still gaining experience, maturity and developing his body to a professional footballer.
Nothing against the kid talent, but there is a clear need of time before moving to 1st team, time which he has in his side.
Once you go to 1st team there is no coming back, you need to deliver and there is no babysitting for you. If he is promoted when he isn't ready-which he is right now-we are taking huge risk with one of our best talents.
Let him have that year Thiago had in 10/11. play with B team and get called many times for B team.
PS: Gumbau is just less than 9 month older than Marlon

Did he play well? Feels like he needs to improve in many aspects. Loosing the ball to often these days but I still like him coz he's very good.

Not really. He didn't provide anything to be honest.
His biggest weakness is actually inconsistent form whether it's ball control or performance qualities.
It cannot be just blamed on the circumstances around the current B team since this problem has been seen for years now.
At times he gives the ball away too easily. His first touch and pass accuracy are not consistent.
He could be a hero on a good day for example, and could also disappear in the following week.
He must overcome this flaw as soon as possible since first team days are not far away.

Anyone know the idea behind letting the contracts of our extremely talented young player run out is all about?

Said there were rumours of him possibly leaving if the club muck up contract talks. Not that he was leaving.

You know what? That's exactly what that article's saying too

In your attempt to paint the club as incompetent or something in the Eric Garcia thread you literally said Alena was considering leaving, as a supporting argument. Along with Cucurella and, strangely, Santiago Bueno.
