Martin Odegaard

I may as well translate the main points from that article.

FIFA preventing Ødegaard from making his debut, his transfer is yet to be approved by the governing body.

The Norwegian FA confirms that the very talented player might have to wait several weeks.

Transfers for all players under 18 take longer time than usual to be approved because of strict regulations(Article 19, Protection of minors). FIFA require the buying clubs to documentate that the incoming player will get an access to schooling and football education of a high standard and optimal living conditions.

The Norwegian FA's man responsible for overseeing transfers, Kristian Skjennum is saying that it's different from case to case regarding how much time this takes and that it could easily take a week or two. Says he can train with his new club, but not play an official match yet.

Jose Luis Sanchez of La Sexta says it's difficult to say when FIFA approves the transfer and thinks it could take everything from 3 weeks to 3 months.

Then the rest is the filler stuff about RM, Castilla, that he is gonna train with the 1st team and other stuff.

And it's only a question of time when this is approved, because it will be approved in the end. RM just need to convince FIFA that he is gonna get everything according to the standards required by FIFA.

He has apparently already been cleared by Fifa and is ready to play on sunday if Zidane gives him the all-clear. :)

It's Real Madrid. It was all for show, a bone to throw to the masses of blind supporters of some "drama" unfolding. Did anyone really think it would take 3 months for them?

Stupid sarcasm is always welcomed.

Of course Its true not only in Madrid, but also munchen, Manchester,London and so on. The psychological factor is immensily underrated.

There are details though. Culture wise an english club would be the best thing. He knows the language, he support Liverpool, he Will easily adapt. Spain is further away and Madrid is a bigger club with more competition where Its easy to "Get lost". He Will always know that brilliant players have failed before him and that Its a long way to the top. Thats not neccessarily a good thing for a 16 year old. Ajax is also close. The citys people are educated and communicates well, the club culture is outstanding and he Will Get first team experience. CL and dutch league. And he Will actually play a lot. Remember, this guy has played three matches for norway, not germany. Instead of the tough transformation from norway to Madrid, he succeds in the ajax system - pretty fast and against good opponents.

One false move my friend

Just a few words, as this quote kinda sums up most of the critism againt Ødegaards club choice. One thing fascinates me deeply; how you seem to know this kid inside out. I mean, he and his father has made the tour of the century. Visiting most of the largest clubs around Europe. Getting to know them, feeling the aura, learn about their structure and even training with the best of the best. Liverpool, Bayern, Real - those who witnessed his training sessions with these major clubs all said the same; he stood his ground. Ødegaard held the same level football wise as everyone else.

Why on earth should he search for his own comfort level instead of aiming for the sky? You only live once. Its as simple as that. Maybe he fails, but that would be a possibility even in Ajax. Lets say injury would ruin the rest of his contract. He will still be only 19 years old and a bosman. Failing in Real will attract interest from a whole bunch of great clubs around Europe. Failing in Ajax would mostly ruin his future.

Some of you seems to think that a A4-stereotype solution is road to heaven, no matter what. Aim for the second best and you wont fail misserly. No one knows where his potential will take him by looking at a Youtube-video. Ajax really hasnt produced that many world class players. But they are really good at making sure that high potential players wont fail totally. Point being; Ødegaard aims for the sky. He may become a living legend in Real or he may fail and still move to a top notch team. In retrospect, twenty years from now, he can comfort himself solely because of his own guts.

PS. Many repeats the word galacticos. Ødegaard is, by many means, a new kind of galacticos. The new Messi which choose Real in front of every other major clubs in Europe. His greatness will shine over RM, showing every other great talent where to go, if he succeed. Perez has simple been way to involved to just sit by and watch him rotten in Castilla. He will get his chances and should Ødegaard fail... well, then he will know one thing for the rest of his life; he just wasnt good enough. It wasnt his level. Ødegaard will know for sure, it just wasnt meant to be. Or he could have choosed Ajax and always wondered; what if... what would have happened if I just had guts strong enough to sign for Real Madrid.....

(PS2; Sorry for my crappy English)

Martin played a closed friendly with the Castilla against Beijing Guoan, and the game ended 3-3.

He supposedly impressed the team a lot, and he apparently gave one assist in the game.

According to José Luis Sánchez he has now also been registered into Real Madrids Champions League squad and has received kit number 21 for the competition. This means there is a possibility for a debut against Schalke february 18th.

He is also probably going to play with the Castilla against Bilbao Athletic on sunday at 16:00.

...

Here's a highlight of the match against Beijing Guoan in very crappy quality. Martin had some nice moments it seems like, one direct assist a very good throughball that didn't lead to a goal at 0:30.

Apparently had a very good game and assisted twice.

He only gave one assist, but was important in the buildup for one of the other ones. But yeah, reports are saying he had a very good game and impressed Zidane.

He could become the youngest player ever in the CL if he plays against Schalke. Babayaro with the current record was 16 years and 86 days when he played. If RM smash them like they did last time, the chances of Ancelotti subbing him on towards the end are probably pretty high. :)
