Yes and no.
Marcelo is over-rated defensively. Both him and Carvajal have been shit this season.

Marcelo was probably the best left back in the world this season, certainly going forward.

In the Nou Camp game he was owning that side of the pitch and causing all sorts of problems.

So because he was good at the Nou Camp he was the best in the world ? Playing well against Barcelona on the right side doesn't mean anything. Messi never helps Alves and Rakitic is too busy covering midfield And right side.
I watched all Madrid games this season (except a few one's in Copa Del Rey) and I know what I'm saying.
He's good going forward and shit defensively... nothing new here, even for Brazil it's the same.
