There is no "recipe". Heynckes' Bayern did everything mentioned here. Crosses, real #9, wingers and fullbacks overloading the flanks, long range shots, physicality, direct play instead of "tiki taka". Still lost the CL final on home soil against Chelsea. They even had the advantage of knowing what to expect and could prepare accordingly as they have closely analysed the Barca games in the semi finals. Still struggled to break them down. With 10 defenders in the box luck will play a big role in creating scoring chances.
Guardiola already struggled with parked busses in 2009 against Chelsea. 5 years later he still struggles with it. If he can't come up with a solution, no one here will.

Um... Heynckes' Bayern were extremely unlucky to lose to Chelsea. Missed penalty, shitloads of missed chances, etc.
This. I hate it when people act like Chelsea dominated Barca and Bayern in 2012. Barca and Bayern should both have beat them by at least 5 goals.

I have often theorised that throwing more players into the opponents third is counterproductive. That is exactly what the opponent wants, so they can hit you on the counter-attack.
My idea is to hold players back, and if possible, draw some of them out.
The "Parking the Bus" strategy only works as long as the other team isn't leading, as proven when Chelsea went behind to Atletico in the CL SF 2nd Leg. Soon as Atletico went in front, they gained control and Chelsea had no answer.

It is paramount that the wide areas are exploited as the central areas will inevitably be cluttered with bodies. Attacking Full-Backs, providing decoy runs, combining with Wingers with quick link-up play and overlapping runs. Crosses drilled in to that corridor of uncertainty between 5 and 10 yards from the goal-line, is something all defenders fear.
Guile & Agility
Players with speed, trickery and can dribble. They can win corners, free-kicks, penalties. Induce Red & Yellow cards. Committing defenders to draw fouls where free-kicks can be used to create set-piece attacks. Flair players are also likely to be doubled up on, so they may find it difficult to impact the game. This means that other players are freed up to take advantage.
Power & Aggression
Playing against predominantly defensive players will also present a physical challenge, so it's advantageous if you can match them in this department. With many possession based teams, the usual route of attack (centre) is virtually negated. Players that can head crossers from wide free-kicks, corners or even long-throws is a key area to identify.
Directness
Whenever possible, hit your opponent with counter-attacks and quick, incisive play. Fast transitions are crucial before the wall can re-position. Sacrifice possession if there is an opportunity that can lead to a goal. It's still important to keep a balance, so if the Back-Line is set, continue with the normal mode of attack.
At every appropriate dead-ball opportunity the ball HAS to be delivered into the box. This is the time to utilise the tall, powerful, aggressive players you've selected. Crosses directly in to the box, attempting to win the aerial balls. Short corners won't do, unless the circumstances dictate.
The same with wide free-kicks. Anywhere from 35-40 yards, the ball has to go in the box.
Long-Shots
Again don't be afraid to lose possession by taking a shot. This avenue has a low success rate, so it needs to be used sparingly, but it can be effective provided you have the players to execute it. In some cases the sheer number of defenders in front of the goalkeeper can be a hindrance and obscure his line of sight. A shot fired through a line of bodies is likely to take a deflection, a ricochet or strike an opponents hand to win a free-kick or penalty. A deflected shot can also wrong-foot the goalkeeper and any ball put in dangerously can result in an own goal.
Patience
Something that happens often is teams lose patience and begin to make poor decisions, attempting shots at impossible range and constantly playing high, floated balls in to the box where the many defenders can easily clear to safety. Stay true to your principles and don't play in to your opponents hands.
Plan B or C
Have a back-up plan or plans if all else is failing. This could include a change of tactics or making substitutions to add an extra dimension.

Is it honestly that hard? The biggest problem I see that attributes to the success of the "parked bus" is that coaches play right into their hands and let it be an obstacle.
Firstly, trying to fight a bus with more control and organization is like trying to fight a rock with a stick; nothing will happen. The whole intention of "defeating" the parked bus is to get the game to be more end-to-end. No one has two fucks to give about your pretty little 45 passes in a row sequence before unleashing the mighty blocked shot. Play fast, penetrative football and chances are that you'll score barring turd finishing. What's the point of trying to stay intricate and methodical in your passing play when the opposition defenders aren't even trying to win the ball! They'll just laugh as you can pass it 4830943 times in front of them and wait for you to not penetrate.
I don't think there's a special "formation" that'll magically crush teams sitting deep, just don't go full retard and screw a successful shape/formation with some weird-ass selections (I'm talking to you Pep, Kroos-Schweini double pivot
). Keeping yourself stable at the back ensures that you don't set yourself up for slaughter while trying to break the bus.
Over-committing players forward will never help. If you push the likes of Neymar and Alexis (or Ribery and Robben) all the way up to the corner flag and then bring on the fullbacks that high as well, you're just losing the amount of useful players you have. They aren't doing shit. If you let a team assemble the bus, their players won't get dragged out of position just because there are two useless guys in front of them instead of one.
You can see it in a majority of league games in which Barca concede and are trying to search for late goals to comeback against a scared liga team who sits deep (a lot of games recently). Towards the end, the players drop the whole "control this, control that" bullshit and start playing off raw instinct to find a goal as quickly and with any way possible (ultimately leading to a LOT more chances and then surprisingly great goalkeeping). What's the point of Messi's/Iniesta's/Neymar's ability to play in tight spaces if they are building slow turtle passing moves. Go primal on their ass from the start, aggressive and fast football to find any holes before they can even sit back in the first place. Obviously a team as organized as Chelsea or Atletico aren't going to bend over as quickly as midtable teams when you start playing with speed and instinct, but it'll give you so much more ability to destabilize them and get in.
